2004r or 700r4?
Well it’s come the time to figure out what way I’m going… I’ve got a 93 model 700 in my truck now but working on installing my 600hp ls in it. So build for build I like the ratios in the 2004r but hard to find and my 700 already fits and the cores to build are easier to find but first to second gear drop I’m not a big fan of. 4L80 isn’t an option because they are to damn power hungry and I don’t want to mess with a controller. What’s y’all’s opinions?

Put the 700 in, wait a few months until it blows up. Install 4l80e

In my humble opinion....
600 HP LS will need the 4L80e and controller...save yourself the heartache and expense. Besides, you are going to need an engine controller anyways. You could get a 200R4 to survive but it would be more expensive to build and keep together. Have fun...

Re: 2004r or 700r4?
Well I guess my boss has a th400 built for an 850hp sbc and a 3500 Tci convertor… Guess I’m going that route. Might just put the ls in front of the 700 and see if it will take some driving first.

Re: 2004r or 700r4?
Snapped the output shaft on my 4L60e at 75,000 miles. (electronic 700R4) Is in my 190hp 94 Chev truck. Had 26" tires and 3.42 gearing in it at the time. Lots of carnage, over 1k in hard parts alone. Had a firm shift, even without I would not recommend for 600hp.

Put a real transmission in is my opinion.
Like a T56. Or TKO600. Otherwise there are no good options and its just a matter of preference.
