The beach has been good to me. I'm a transplant too, came down from NYC 8 years ago. Can't wait to see the finished product, it's been a fun build to watch!

Man that is an awesome build. I am just starting mine in October (fingers x'd) and this is an excellent reference thread.
1) Where abouts are you in Michigan. I am in Ontario and head in there once or twice a year for a trip.
2) Deaver springs. Were these an off the shelf or a custom order. How were they to deal with as you aren't local to them.

It is amazing how fast a month can click by and leave very little progress behind to show.

I finally made a decision on what to do about gauges. I was really torn between the Dakota Digital VHX series and the Classic Instruments G-Stock Series. The VHX set offered some cool features but lacked the traditional look I’m shooting for. After seeing the G-Stock gauges for myself and not just a photo, I was sold. Pictures don’t do them justice at all.

With the more subtle look of the gauge set I decided to ditch the steering wheel as well.

I am almost finished with the last of the wiring also. I probably have already said this but American Autowire is top notch in my opinion and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

Up front I ended up not using the stock late model AC compressor like I had planned. It was tucked up nice and tight inside the frame rail but trial and error on custom made hoses sounded like a PITA that I wasn’t up for.

Looks Amazing... Super clean inside and out. Did you use the stock tach white wire from the AAW kit. or separate tach harness?

I agree, those gauges are perfect for our dashes, looks like they could be stock. Nice work on the build so far....

I connected the ECM using the AAW white tach wire. At the other end the AAW white tach wire becomes part of the six pin gauge pigtail which plugs directly into the pigtail of the gauges.
Does it work? I sure hope so but I haven’t put power to anything yet.

What a difference a weekend can make. Well actually I started my weekend Thursday night with a repaint on one of my doors. Anyway, three and a half days in the garage and help from friends and I have what once again resembles a truck.

I have more gap work to do but needed a break so today I started working on the interior again. I ended up mistakenly ordering low hump carpet so I reassembled the seats and started taking inventory. I really like to use good clean hardware and if possible original. This is what I have found works well. First wire wheel or sand blast to get the major junk off. Then a soak in Rust Prep. I usually let it soak for about half an hour. Then another soak in the metal blackening concentrate and finally a squirt of rattle can low sheen clear coat. It sounds like a lot of messing around but it’s really easy and I think the end results look great.

The seats covers are custom and were made locally. I am very pleased with the workmanship. The front bucket foams are from Truckseats here in this forum. I don’t know foam from foam but the upholsterer was impressed with the quality. The rears are the originals that were in good condition. The upholstery shop reworked them in order to make the seat’s shape closer resemble the front two. I also had the frames blasted and powder coated, heaters installed and carpet placed above the springs for a finished look. I think the bottoms look as good as the tops.

Hard to believe they are the same seats.

Jarros I just started looking at fuel tank, pump etc. options. I have been eyeballing an old boat tank, external pump and regulator that I have just laying around. Just to fire it up! I’d love to see some color on those headers. I know it runs (post #123) but it’s not quite the same.

Tom the heaters are Roadwire. I know nothing about them except they are what the upholsterer uses all of the time.
