1965 C10 Rearview Mirror journey

Hello
I figured I would give my ideas about looking for a correct 1965 Chevy C10 rear view mirror. I am not and expert but these are my findings. My 1965 C10 truck did not come with a rearview mirror. There in my mind is a lot of confusion on what is correct for a 1964-5 Chevy C10. Through my research found out there are three various types of mirrors. One is the standard mirror with no day night (black) knob. The other two do have the black knob for day and night adjustment. Only difference one 8 the other is 10 inches. By 1967 automotive safety regulations required mirrors to have a safety rubber gasket around mirror. I’m not sure if this made its way to any late 1966 C10 from the factory.
I found a-lot of information from the Corvair forum on this matter. The trucks share the same types of mirror that Corvairs do.
I found this mirror on eBay for twenty bucks and the guy selling it did not know what it came off of. This mirror bracket was from a 1964-5 optional mirror for Corvair it had heavy rust stains and mirror silver looked very presentable for its age. But all and all it looked pretty good for it’s age.
I found this mirror bracket on eBay. I do believe it’s new old stock. The box it came in has alot of shelf wear and came with mounting screws for bracket.
I’m happy with my purchases and spend only 14 bucks for mirror bracket.
My advise is to find a Corvair mirror. They are cheaper and plenty around if you are upgrading your truck!

It's interesting you mentioned Corvair, when I bought mine it had a Corvair mirror... which lead to some confusion when it was time to replace it.

I suspect that buyers often had dealerships add mirrors and there may have been some variation to what they kept on hand.

I'll be darned, check out this catalog online - https://ssl.corvair.com/user-cgi/cat...show_page=303A
That place is about twice the costs of Truck Shop though.
eBay is cheaper though.
