What other bench seat is close in size to original?

I'm on my 3rd bench seat on this truck. The first was period but to far gone to use, the second came from a '58 but also is rusted beyond use. I just bought a nice bench seat from a '73 Chevy but its too wide (by 4 inches). Since I'm having no luck locating an original bench seat, what other seats out there are close to the original in size/ shape?

I'm putting one from an 87 in mine. The seat measures approximately 57" wide and the base measures 52" wide.

I may have found one that will fit It's a back seat out of a 90s t bird it is a little narrow and a little short so if it is close enough and the back will work it can be built up and reshaped.

Well, I have that seat from a 73 Chevy. It's in great shape just too wide. How hard is it to cut 4 " off the pass side and weld it back up?

Try one out of a dodge dakota, they are a little narrower than a full size truck.

Same here. The benches from 1988 and 89 fit like they were meant for these trucks. I think GM planned it that way.

Re: What other bench seat is close in size to original?

Try 2007 or newer suburban or tahoe or other equivalent GM - the 3rd row seats fit and are nice looking. Saw pics where somebody on here has them in their truck. They looked really great. I need to go back and find that thread since I wonder how comfortable they are for longer rides.

Re: What other bench seat is close in size to original?

I used a bench out of a 77 malibu wagon. (But a 73-77 malibu, el camino, cutlass, etc should be the same.) It's 56" as well. I checked measurements from stock. Seat brackets from a 90's model astro van bolted on with no cutting. Drill four holes and be done. Before and after I upholstered it.
