Title says C14

Hello all. Newbe here (at least to c10's anyway). I have a 64 C10, or at least thats what they are commonly called, and geting ready to restore. The title says the model is C14. I have seen these listed as C14's and also see old documentation that refers to these trucks as model C14 series 10. I'm wondering about those who also own these trucks (say 64-66?) what their title says under 'model'? C10 or C14? I'm assuming it could have been either. Thanks in advance.

Re: Title says C14

The C14 just stands for 2wd Shortbed (115" WB).

See the decoder here.

Re: Title says C14

Thanks for the reply. For those who own these trucks, what does it actually say on the title....under 'model'?

Re: Title says C14

Thanks for all the responses. I need to get my title transferred and I was thinking about have the model changed from C14 to C10 on the title...if possible.....just not sure what is the correct legal designation. Some documentation I've looked at says 'Series C14' under the 'Model Identification' and another says 1/2 ton Model C14 Series 10.

Looking thru my original service manuals at different chapters and tables(printed 1962-63) the terminology is all over the place Model C10,C-10,C14, Series C10, C14....jeez I can see how someone at the DMV could get this confused. I'm assuming at this point that they are all correct....just depends on what documentation from GM that you are looking at. Looks like the DMV took the C14 when they titled this one.

Re: Title says C14

C10 indicates that it is a half ton. C14 is a 115" wheelbase truck as indicated above. A C1404 is a stepside and a C1434 is a fleetside.

Re: Title says C14

The VIN's on all Chevy trucks ( 1/2 ton) have a c14 in them.
