Show me your spark plug wire colors

I need to replace some very old stock replacement plug wires on my 350 since I just installed headers. I know color is a personal choice, but I'd like to see your wires, looms, and separators.

I'm leaning towards using these Made4You separators (but not yellow!) to route the wires. I've used them in the past and really like them. They also sell individual parts.

Re: Show me your spark plug wire colors

I can't show mine because the idea on a 283 was to route them out of sight and I did the new ones in similar fashion. As for color though, I like black. I've had the orange Autolites in the past but keeping them looking new often required wiping them down with a cleaner or solvent.

I was just looking at running them straight down, clamped at the oil pan then back up behind the heads. Not sure it will work though.

Good point about keeping colored wires clean. I have some old wires and terminals in a box. The blue wires look pretty nasty, but the black ones look almost new!

Your screen name made me think of Dave Campo, a Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator and then head coach.

Re: Show me your spark plug wire colors

I've always felt better with the stock AC Delco stuff. They use good quality silicone rubber that is hard to melt or burn. I had some bad experiences with the colorful Moroso or Mallory stuff on a dyno engine. I think it was Moroso guides and Mallory wires. They looked super cool, but then melted like chocolate when the engine was under load. Dripped onto the exhaust manifolds, and turned into little puffs of flame.

Thanks for the response.

However, unless AC Delco makes cut-to-fit wire kits, they wouldn't work for me.

I can't speak to Moroso or Mallory, but I've used Taylor Spiro Pro once and MSD Heil-core a few times. Only problem I ever had was a wire touching a header pipe (my bad). And even then MSD sent me a new length of wire. My experience is those brands hold up fine, even with a spark plug boot only 1/2" from a header pipe.

Very nice! Does it run, or do you just eat off of it?

Re: Show me your spark plug wire colors

Check out Scott performance wires, very very nice product and a rainbow of color options. I've had luck with them and MSD. Used several Taylor cut to fit kits and they didn't last as long as the MSD kits I've used.
