72 Custom Dash Bezel

Built a glove box door custom dash bezel for my 72 blazer, most of the parts out of a 93 Caprice wagon. Whole drive train is out of the same car. I have most of the gauges working ....Posted on the Electrical forum with no response .... Trying to get the electronic speedometer working, 1993 5.7L TBI 4L60 with vss wiring... I wired the A10 from the ECM to the back of the speedo, did not realize that it needs the buffer module. I hope this is what it needs.. 7 wires on the buffer, pink power, black ground. (F) Brown input from A10.. 2k... (C)Green output to back of speedo 4k? My module is different of coarse (C) is another brown wire.... Are the yellow and purple wires needed? Thanks in advance...Ed

Did you have the factory gauges and bezel to begin with?

Re: 72 Custom Dash Bezel

Yep on both. Different trans and rear axle now in the Blazer, I hope to get the Caprice dash speedo working, with this gear ratio. Other wise it's back to the 1st bezel and find trans output with cable and different gears.

I suggest you go to the LS section and talk to ls1nova71 are PM him. He has done a lot of electric conversion stuff and even cruise control for my 6.0.

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

I wished I could tell you. That is one area I have no idea on anything. Hope you get it straightened out. That's a cool mod. I like it. Retro looking but modern!

Re: 72 Custom Dash Bezel

You could search or post up on thirdgen.org or gearhead-efi.com. Those folks have some good tricks for DRAC modules.

Re: 72 Custom Dash Bezel

Here's a VSS Buffer/ DRAC out of a truck. It sounds like the one you might have.

Re: 72 Custom Dash Bezel

Should have post photo of mine, 1st ...A C D F H.....A is black w/white stripe ground wire ...H is pink w/ black stripe 12v ...I think F brown wire is 2k input from ecm...other brown wire C..? or green wire D is 4k output that I hope will make this work. And I am unclear about yellow and purple wires!...Thanks for chiming in, I think the truck Drac module and wiring are different.

Re: 72 Custom Dash Bezel

The yellow and purple go to the VSS. Then the signal goes through the buffer. A is ground, H is 12v power, D goes to speedo for input, and F probably goes to the PCM for speed input.

C is problably for cruise control, which doesn't have to be hooked up.

Re: 72 Custom Dash Bezel

Thank you, Bigdav160 Also roboticjunky....That is it, wow...Looks like C or D could be used for 4k pulse... I started to make extention wires for the yellow and purple wires, I guess I will splice into the wires near the trans, Howell TBI Harness wires run to ecm, but probably are for idle control etc when coming to a stop. I am going to print a copy of that schematic and put it under my pillow. Maybe something will soak in...

Re: 72 Custom Dash Bezel

Definitely add the vss signal wire to your tbi ecu. It uses that signal for a lot of things, idle air control motor is the main one you will notice, but there's a lot of other functions that are speed dependent.
