What are these??

I'm talking about the two rods connected to the steering column and going to the tranny. I saw these in a junk yard the other day and haven't seen them before. Just wondering what they are and what they are for.

They move the shift arms on the side of the manual transmission to change gears. When you move the shift lever in the cab it moves the levers and rods in your picture.
