what is it worth?

I am looking at buying a complete in decent shape 67 C10 stepside to restore... I have a 68 GMC that i just picked up but need a stepside or fleetside short box to have all the parts i need.

Well i came across this complete 67 C10 and am thinking of buying it for my resto and turning the 68 into a drag pickup.... just curious of what you guys think its worth... the only real bad thing on it is rusted rocker panels... although it does have minor dings and small dents, but nothing horrible.

So what do you think its worth?

Thanks guys!

$1000 ? depends on location... rust is the major thing to look for in my opinion, good sheet metal will save you alot in a build. rockers are minor but look at the floor under the carpet, get under the cab and look for rotted floors ,corners ,lower door pillars, and especially check the cab supports. take a look at the frame to see if some hack welded up a new front or rear section after a crash or look for any bent spots of the frame rail . looks like a real good truck to redo from the pics .

He is asking $1200.. I think it would be a fair price, i dont think there is anything on it that is not fixable that i seen... I have to look it over agian real good.

I know the box fenders are in good shape, as i considered buying it just for the box so i could complete my current pickup... then i noticed the rest of the pickup didnt look to bad....

When you figure what it cost to replace fenders/tailgate/steps on my current pickup im in about $1200 for repro parts... so i guess i cant really lose.

Thanks for the reply!

Re: what is it worth?

I think thats a great price. Before the economy tanked that would be a $2500 truck in Oklahoma thats why i bought mine out of state. now its a $1200 price range deal. (assuming that it is complete but not running/driving condition)Having a welder and sheetmetal fab skill makes rust not so bad for me. but if you dont weld, the rust repairs can be much higher $$ than the cost of a truck like that. In oklahoma we have lovely red clay soil that gets slung onto the underside and rots your cab if you dont keep it rinsed off semi regularly if you go on dirt roads, on the farm,or to the lake. but we dont have the extreme road salt issues of the east coast, so highway trucks are pretty rust free but as we all know in the 60s and 70s most people weren't buying trucks because they looked cool. They were for hauling hay on the farm and checking the cows & fence etc. In OK a short bed (bed only) will also be $1000 - $2000 (saw one recently for 2 obo!) closer to $1000 is typical. long beds are free - $200 and any fleetside tailgate thats not smashed bent and warped is $200 +

so you should buy the truck and keep the bed and ill take the rest off your hands for $200

Re: what is it worth?

The other major sheet metal thing to look at is for rust on the inside edge of the roof. if your sitting in the truck, do you see any rust bubbles just above the windshield? alot of times the seam sealer in the drip rail rots and cracks allowing moisture to seep into the front of the roof.

Re: what is it worth?

Farmers don't park their trucks because they run and drive great. Why is it parked? I would guess you are going to go through most of the drivetrain and brakes to get it going again. I would love to get that truck for $600, but would probably go to $800.

It could be worth $1,200, but you would have to tell me more.

What size engine? Does it turn over?
Looks like an auto tranny, powerglide?
Just curious, but what steering wheel is in there, an Impala wheel?

Re: what is it worth?

motor doesnt run.... He initially started at $1800, i got him to $1200 so far.... just to buy repro parts to fix the box i have would cost $1200+

I will be doing an LS conversion, so drivetrain is not a concern for me. More reliable and better gas milage lol. Probably a stock 5.3 and 4l60E....

My 68 GMC will now become my racing truck, body wont be perfect but will be fast! lol.... its gonna be a 5.3 turbo with 4l80E
