Missing parts on heater box w/AC

Okay, I took this off from the truck awhile back. Since the beginning, it looked like it was missing parts. So what's missing. Can any one tell me. I took the metal plate off that goes on the outer side of the box to paint. Other than that, I am not sure what goes inside. Oh yes, the heater core is off.Name: IMG_0695.jpg

In the 1st pic, the square hole should have a little "door" in it. I'm not sure what it's for, but when my heater core started leaking, that's where the water came out.

The 2nd pic, if my memory serves me is where the resistor goes. I think

The 3rd pic is where the wires go in, there's a grommet that goes there.

Thank you Fantom! It explains why one of the harness looks a bit burnt. Thanks again!

Another question. Do they make replacement for these units. The diverter box has a broken trap door. Do they make these parts? Does anyone know?

I just took one these assemblies apart today HERE. Looks like it's gonna sell. I would be happy to take a bunch of pics of it for you before I box it up. It was completely assembled when I took it apart.

Re: Missing parts on heater box w/AC

Broken diverter doors are common. The plastic becomes brittle and the design at the hinge pin isn't all that stout to begin with. Complete diverter boxes are available in reproduction (for about $90) and occaisionally an original is offered for sale in the Parts Board. I searched long and hard for just the door with no success. I went with making a repair which works OK for me so far (Posts 158-160 in my Project thread). There are quite a few ways to repair the door depending upon your skills. Search thru old threads for ideas.
