VERY rare period correct visor shelf

This is very similar to the ones LMC sells now but this is steel and can be painted body color. This is rootbeer brown and a very cool vintage accessory. Removed from a 1976 Custom Deluxe. You can still use your visor with this. I have been around a TON of squarebodies and this is the only one I have ever seen. Price is $60 and does not include shipping.

Since this mounts to the stock location of your factory visors, where would you mount your visors then? You'd need a opening in the center large enough for the visors shaft to reside in and at an angle as well. Neither of these does this part have from looking at the pics.

That bolt to the original visor mounts, then the visors mount to that. I put one in my sis's old van....Kinda neat, somewhere to put stuff so it can slide around and fall on yah when your driving...

Re: VERY rare period correct visor shelf

This was the only one I had seen until I looked at the modern version LMC sells. Realistcally I guess you could also put an aftermarket radio up there and it wouldn't be noticeable.

Very cool piece. Anyone ever see an RPO code for it?

Re: VERY rare period correct visor shelf

That is very strange because I also play with a ton of stuff for the square body trucks and found one of these last week. It is also the first vintage, factory made ones of these I have seen. This one seems to have a fuzzy cover of some sort. I have seen plenty of homemade attempts. The one I found has two brackets on the end that the shelf screws into. Then it has an angled tab with a hole in the middle to mount the visors. I think that might be what Ble 'Burban meant. In any case I agree they are rare.

Don't know that it was factory. It is interesting that it was a factory color. It matched the truck perfectly. Definetly a dealer install.

Mine is almost designed exactly like that. I guess it would be easy enough to drill a hole for the center piece for the visors. Weird that one is covered with a felt type material.

I don't think I would buy it if I were you. These are rare but I guess it doesn't make them desireable. I have had tbis for sale for quite a while with no one interested in it.

YA! fuzzy stuff, these are not factory to my knowledge and were sold from places like JC whitney in the day. the 'fuzzy' stuff was always falling off the ones i had. I scrapped a few .lol
