a couple gunsmithing projects

british style 375 H&H built on a oberndorf mauser action. I threaded and chambered the barrel myself. opened up the bolt face and action to fit the 375. bolt handle and bottom metal is from duane wiebe and the stock blank was from great American. sights are necg and I rust blued it myself.

pile of parts

bottom metal and bolt handle

I need a bigger lathe

inletted into the stock, still need to finish shape the stock

rust blued, silvers pad on the stock and a couple coats of red oil on the stock.
I've put about 120 rounds through it so far.

Re: a couple gunsmithing projects

What are you hunting with that? These days I mostly hunt paper and small groups. .22LR and .38SP.

I mostly hunt paper with it but it's been on a couple deer and hog hunts. 270 grain spire points do very little damage. I'm still waiting on a cape buffalo to wander into our hunting property

Re: a couple gunsmithing projects

here are a couple more spare parts builds.
I just happened to have a remington mosin nagant with a shot out barrel, a .222 barrel from a Remington 722, a .220 swift ackley reamer and a lathe.
rethreaded and rechambered the barrel.

modified the bolt head, ejector and extractor. I basically copied the bolt, extractor and ejector mods that were done on my bannerman 30-06 mosin conversion

slapped it in a p.o.s. plastic stock and put some sights from one of my junk boxes on it.

shoots good and feeds from the magazine.

Re: a couple gunsmithing projects

then there's the redneck sniper monstrosity, aka "Cletus"
started out as a shot out hex receiver mosin, finned barrel is from a madsen light machine gun, rethreaded and chambered in 7mmx54r, had it in 7mm-08 for a while but decided it needed to be chambered in a 7.62x54r based wildcat, so I cut it back then rethreaded and rechambered. stock is a home made contraption, scope mount is a burris p.e.p.r. ar-15 mount turned backwards.
