Wheel color

This is my '68 C20 Custom Camper
I am going with stock rims and these chrome caps, and no trim rings.
What color would you paint the wheels?
White, Argent, or Blue?

Re: Wheel color

I'd go with white. I see you have the later model center caps. Do those snap on around the lugs or do they thread onto the lugsnuts?

The stock wheels are on the way, then need to be painted.

I also think white would look best with that combination. Very nice looking truck!

Re: Wheel color

I'd do it white to color coordinate personally, but I think silver would look good too.

Re: Wheel color

I'm pretty sure I've read on here that silver was the factory color for 68 but white would look great as well, honestly I think it'd be hard to go wrong with either on such a nice truck.

Re: Wheel color

Looks to me like you want a stock looking truck so paint the wheels in stock color. But you can't go wrong with any of those colors.

Re: Wheel color

Blue would make the chrome cap stick out, but argent has my vote, not a fan or white rims-they take the eye to the wheels imho

Factory stock, you know where my heart is.
I do find it interesting that everybody else picked white.

Re: Wheel color

What size tires were put on the 16.5x8.25 wheels on these 3/4 ton trucks in 1968?

Re: Wheel color

10 - 16.5. They were about 31" tall. A 9.50 could also be mounted. They were shorter

Re: Wheel color

I thought the 9.50 was taller/skinnier than the 10.

Oh, and I'd go with stock silver since the truck is so original looking. I like the white also, but if I had a 68 (like that one), I'd go with silver. And I don't believe it was argent - more of a grayish silver if I recall. Argent is Vette/Camaro rally silver (slight green tint)

That would definitely look good in silver.

Re: Wheel color

Painting the wheels and hubcaps is taking longer than I thought.
Extra sanding, rainy days, and my painter having to spend more time at his real job LOL.
Getting close. Will post pics soon.
