Disc brake conversion questions?

I have a 67 gmc with drum front brakes. If I use 71-72 spindles will I need to change to a 71-72 center link or will I just have to change the outer tie rods and ball joints using my 67 a-arms? I am not lowering the truck so does anyone make a 6 lug rotor that can swap in and take place of the 5 lug rotor and use the same calipers? Thanks for any info. Rod.

Re: Disc brake conversion questions?

Ok so I would probably be better off buying a kit that uses the stock stuff like this one. I don't want to miss match stuff .http://www.ebay.com/itm/McGaughys-St...4AAOSwbqpTtZPk. Says it uses the same ball joints as the truck already has.

Re: Disc brake conversion questions?

Is there any tie rods thar will work with the 67-70 sleve and 71-72 tie rods. The reason I need to keep the 67-70 tireemail Rod Sleve is because it has 67 style ram powere steering and the Sleve and inner tie rods is specific to that set up and I don't feel like changing all that.

Re: Disc brake conversion questions?

the inner tie rods are different on the 67-8 power steering setup I thought the only difference was the center link because of the control valve ? I ask because I reciently purchased this system for my 67 and am trying to learn all I can about it and I will want to go disk at some point too

but on the regular setups they make a sleeve that lets you run your factory inner tierod and a newer outer I think cpp or one of them

Re: Disc brake conversion questions?

The tie rods are the same the center adjusting Sleve is longer on power steering models. because of where the cylinder and valve mount on the center like tie rods were moved into the center of the center link.

Re: Disc brake conversion questions?

good to know I imagine we could machine the sleeves but it would seem cheaper to go with the spindle made to go with our tierods and ball joints then

Re: Disc brake conversion questions?

That's why I'm going to buy the kit in the link I posted above. Uses the same ball joints and tie rods.
