I cut it above the body line about 1 1/8" it will want to curve inward when you weld it! I butt welded it you should weld it 1" at a time and cool it down with air right away this pulling the metal back you may have to hammer & dolly it some! Or if there's no gap you can tig weld it then hammer the weld!
