I see what you mean about the center part, there are some pretty deep channels to get into. Painting would cut down on time (and loss of sanity) but I guess it all depends on what you ultimately feel when you flip the bed up and see it. I think either way it would look good.
Was it a big deal to get the torque tube lengthened?
