Bearings and seals kit for SM465 and Rockwell 221 T/C?

Does anyone know where the best place for me to find kits to rebuild my sm465 tranny and my Rockwell 221 T/C? Do I need to order this stuff from a GM dealer or are their aftermarket companies out there that make these kits?

Thanks

Mods, I realized I should've posted this here originally please delete my other thread on the engine and drivetrain forum.

I just rebuild my SM465 this weekend. Novak has a nice kit and a great set of instructions on doing the rebuild.

What "special" tools did the rebuild require?
Thanks

A bearing splitter, a puller with long arms and a hydraulic press.

Re: Bearings and seals kit for SM465 and Rockwell 221 T/C?

You should be able to rent the tools at auto zone for free. The only reason that I needed the long puller was due to having a late model SM465 with a long output shaft.

Re: Bearings and seals kit for SM465 and Rockwell 221 T/C?

You can usually have a local transmission shop pull the old bearings and a press an Harbor Freight is not that expensive, check it out before to pay someone, that cost can scare you.

Re: Bearings and seals kit for SM465 and Rockwell 221 T/C?

Yea, I see your point. Talked to a trans shop today. 400 for the rebuild and 200 for the parts. I might have to try to rebuild myself as you suggested. Thanks for the great input!!

Novak sells rebuild kits that are pretty complete for around $150.00.

nope, didn't have the money so I just cleaned it up for now and will change the oil... If it has issues later on then i'll rebuild or replace with the NP205 that I have.

Re: Bearings and seals kit for SM465 and Rockwell 221 T/C?

Honestly, I am going the same route. I have a spare T221 that came with the sm465. My focus is going to be on the 4sp.
Thanks,
