What is the best rad flush for '05 Chevy?

I know the PO did not do it and I use the truck like a rented mule.. A radiator flush seems to be in order.. What is the best stuff out there?

Drain and refill is all that is really needed. Unless there is a bunch of gunk in it then I've used the Prestone stuff in the yellow can to flush the dexcool "mud" out of them before.

Just a tip....Use distilled water when mixing your coolant, Using ANY other water will contaminate the cooling system with chlorine, fluoride, Iron, & a host of other chemicals & minerals.

Ive run several cars/trucks on 50/50 Dexcool/distilled water for a full 150K with no problems.

Isn't the block made of iron anyway? I use my tap well water with no apparent issues. I have pretty good well water though, and use a 5 micron sediment filter.

Tap water can be corrosive to internal engine components, and can cause a more rapid depletion of the anti-corrosion additives found in antifreeze formulations. Well water (even with a filter) Is more risky than city water. If you have "hard water" DO NOT use it...."soft water" is better....Deionized/Distilled water is best.

Where's the best place to get distilled water? Some bottled water for drinking that comes in gallons is purified with reverse osmosis, not distilled.

Re: What is the best rad flush for '05 Chevy?

I'd trust the Prestone rad flush and I also trust Dupont products.
After having the heater core plug up twice in the 2 years I've owned my 2000 GMC while having dexcool in it I said enought is enough. Both times I reverse flushed the core with a garden hose and plugs of mud shot out of it. Couldn't understand why it did this since it has a tight system and never lost coolant so no air present to cause it to mud up.
It's then when I flushed the system real good and put the green in it. No more red for me. Bugs me that I couldn't get that stain out of the coolant tank too.
