OK, really hate to sell this too..but I need to.

1973-1974 GMC tailgate. What is unique and rare about this particular 'gate is that it has the raised GMC lettering in the uper left hand corner, with an emblem over it. Also, the brushed center panel has NO holes in it for emblems of any kind because of that.

The tailgate is in EXCELLENT condition with no rust or dents anywhere. Light scratches here and there from being stored, but that is it. Tailgate was originally ochre(sp?)/white, but somewhere along the way it was painted a cream color over the ochre. The trim, center band, and emblem are absolutely perfect!

I am sure this was a new take off that someone purchased, repainted, and intended to put on their truck...but never did, or never used the truck much if they did.

Tailgate also comes with matching trunions and straps.

Asking $425, do not want to ship due to risk of damage, and I do not want to split it up at this time.

Seems like a more than fair price to me! Try and find one of these if you need one! I have one too I was going to sell but mine doesn't have the trim panel. These are really hard to find that just aren't beat to crap!

Tailgate is still for sale. willing to split up the gate and band if anyone is interested...otherwise, price is still the same for both. Still have the upper and lower trim, just removed it because it was loose and I did not want to damage it. band has a couple SUPER fine scratches (if you can even call them that) on it, but they are barely noticable, and I am sure will polish out no problem. Just a quick question. Did the low line trucks have the "GMC" letters stamped into the skin on the upper corner like that? This gate appears to have individual letters on it. Jay

I believe so...but they wouldn't have had the emblem over them like this one does. Until I came across this gate, I had never seen one before...

We just had a good snow storm, and making a crate for this is out of the question. Sorry, wish there was a way to get this to you.

Just thought i would add that my buddy has a take off gate from a 73 and it has the letters on the upper corner like that but they are painted over and no stainless strip on it. Must have been a bare bones truck.

First off if you still have the gate I would like to buy the emblems.

Secondly. To the person that asked if this gate was different then later years. Yes, under the emblems the metal is raised with and also reads GMC. In fact if you do not have a 75 or 74 trailgate the emblems do not mount correctly. And for the record the emblems were also used on the gate of the Jimmy.

The Custom Deluxe and low line models used the gate without the chrome letters. The tailgate had the GMC name stamped and the GMC name was painted white. I have two 74's, a Custom Deluxe and a Sierra Grande and know this information to be correct.

I just got rid of the pesky 67-72 cab, and now have my garage back...will get the gate crated up and we can go from there.
