My New Ride (72 SWB)
Well guys I original had a 67 SWB which I got and started tearing down from the rear first. Big mistake. So I sold the 67 and told myself I was going to take a break for awhile from the "sport"…. After the guy came and picked up the 67 I felt kinda of torn as he was driving away with the truck. So I decided to hop on Craigslist for poops and giggles just to see what was out there. I stumbled across a 1972 true short bed that was just listed for 20 minutes. I shot the great guy Richard a text and asked was it available and he said yes. I was the first one. After a few text I told him I would be there in the AM to check it out. I called in sick from work and put the wife in kids in the Jeep and we took a nice 2.5 hour road trip. For the price and running truck I already made up my mind I was going to buy it. With this one I have take the boards advice and don't start a section you can not finish. With this one I will do a section at a time, since she is running and I love driving them. I got tons of honks and thumbs up driving home! It was AWESOME! Enough of the my little rant and here she is….

I jacked it up today and this is what I found. I noticed a bump stop was missing. A wooden block on one side of the bed. Not sure what these other components that was made are for. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys enjoy!

The wood is a "spacer" to take up the area missing r/t the rusted brace. The other pieces appear to be extra bed mounts. Still looks like a good starting point. I'm in...

Welcome to the forum, and hello from a fellow Mary-lander! thats a nice SWB you've found there. I kinda did the same thing, xcept i sold a 64 C10 and I drove 6 hours south into Virginia for my LWB. The 1 owner fact was a big part in my decision on buying it also. I am a paint/body tech and a restoration aprentice. If I can assist in any way just shoot me a PM on here. Congrats on the new ride! I may be mistaken, but in the picture of the rear coil spring, it looks like the retaining cup that holds the top of the coil in place has came apart. If you haven't already, I would replace it before driving it much. but again, I may just be seeing things.

No it's totally rotted. I have all new rear suspension parts in the garage. Everything will be replaced within the next month. Time! Time! Time!
