What's a "P. Washer"
Says this in the assembly manual. Pretty sure it's just a washer, but I'd like to confirm/. That and I haven't asked a dumb question in days..............Thank you

You're not giving a lot of context, but "Plain Washer" is a common term, it might mean that.

I would tend to agree with davepl, since L. washer stands for Lock Washer. I have also seen P. or Pl. Washer used for Plated Washer. LockDoc

Thank you for the confirmation. Power steering is a messy job. Couldn't tell you what plugs into the fittings for temporary, so I just cut the ends off......

I "enjoyed" pulling the power steering so much yesterday that I swapped it for the one in the 72 today. The pump on the 71 has a ding or two and it may be leaking. Come to find out the pulley is a little stiff as well. The one from the 72, now a 71 moves freely, no leaks no dents. I don't suppose anyone rebuilds these? I bought one from NAPA and it has worked fine for the last 3 years. It was only the pump, you have to reuse the can.

It was hose. I suspect I replaced it at some point, and it may have been for coolant. Could explain why the the pulley isn't so good.

Here's a non-explanation of a "P" washer. It has some Corvette folks stumped as well, but post 10 may give the best "non-explanation".

Perhaps different authors or inconsistency in description, I say this because: Page 842 in the assembly manual shows a "P. WASHER" between the stud and exhaust manifold for the power steering bracket. Page 526 in the assembly manual shows a "WASHER" between the stud and exhaust manifold for the A/C steering bracket. I see no reason to sport two different washers for essentially the same spot & purpose.
