Tinting Epoxy Primer
Looking for input on the feasibility of tinting a two part automotive epoxy primer.
Getting ready to shoot primer on my '68 C10. I have Eastwoods 2 part epoxy in white & wanted to tint it to a cream color. Does anyone know if this can be done without compromising the epoxy ? If so, what tints would can be used ? Thanks in advance ! |

Re: Tinting Epoxy Primer
I thought you couldnt tint epoxy. You can email eastwood tech. They respond pretty quick.

Why do you want to tint it? I've never heard of anyone wanting to do this before. Some guys like to tint urethane high build primer...

Sherwin Williams has had tintable primer for years. I used it on a truck about 20 years ago and it looked like satin paint and held up good. |

Re: Tinting Epoxy Primer
Grumpy, do you have the spec's on what epoxy primer you used. That looks
like it could work for my application. Cheers |

Re: Tinting Epoxy Primer
All the epoxies I know of can not be tinted. Valspar makes a buff colored epoxy primer like that and HOK if I remember right.
Just a head up, but epoxy was never meant to be used as a topcoat so therefor does not have any UV properties. Meaning it will chaulk up once exposed to the UV rays from the sun.

Re: Tinting Epoxy Primer
PPG had a black[dp90] white[dp50?]and used to have a blue but it has been discountinued.I do know the made a brown but I don't remember the numbers on that sorry. I has been years since I used the dp or dplf[lead free] because I went to the Omni once I found that they made it in epoxy. It is great stuff and way cheaper than the top shelf stuff
