Finally a day in the 50's. Amazing how much can be done with a whole day above freezing. I finished up bending my brakelines. The only thing left to do is to flare some of the ends. Other than that I have them ready to run into the distribution block when I get it mounted.

And finally I got the cab mounted today. A little backyard enginuity with some ratchet straps and and an engine hoist. Not exactly the easiest one man job but it worked for taking it off so I figured is should work for putting it back on and it did.
Now I can finally start to make some progress on getting this thing drivable. I am so pleased with the stance.

I have used 1/4" nut and ferrule compression fittings for a lot of brake line fittings. I am using some 3AN fittings to hook up the flexible lines to the front calipers and the rearend.

Thanks. It is such a feat. I had to stop staring so I could take a shower and eat dinner, haha. After I dropped it I realized I forgot to drill my holes in carrier bearing crossmember, oops. I will just have to jack it up extra high to do so. But I couldnt take it anymore.

You might want to reconsider using a brass compression fitting on a stainless line,... or for brake lines period.
The 37 degree AN fittings or 45 degree double flare is the standard.
If you have to use compression,... use a stainless fitting like Swagelok brand fittings.
They use a stainless ferrule to crimp into the harder stainless line.

Thanks for the advise Keith. Nevermind, I did a little research and it is more of a pressure issue. I will have to rethink the compression fittings I have in place then.

Pressure and the ability of the ferrule to not grip the tube.
The tube nut on a AN fitting or a double flare is captured by the flare and cannot come off the tube.
Plus compression fittings are illegal in many states.

We use Swagelok fittings at my work.
http://www.swagelok.com/products/fittings.aspx
Brass fittings on copper and soft lines.
Stainless on stainless lines.
Never brass on stainless.
Plus these are rated much higher than the average parts store compression fitting.
Do yourself a favor and flare the brake lines.
There is a ton of info on the internet about NOT using compression fittings for brake lines.

Thanks again Keith. My lines were a combination of flared and compression. Looks like I will be going with all flared now lol. IMAX look into the swageloks though since I am set up for compression lengths. One more question what sealant do you use on your npt fittings?

My opinion,... loctite 545 is the best for hydraulic fittings (brake line NPT) and also NPT end of air ride fittings.
Let is set up the required 24 hour cure time and you will be leak free.
But the fitting has to be clean and dry.
(no oily fittings)

The worse part about your current compression fittings,... is that the ferrule will have to be cut off the line to reuse the line.
Then it will be too short.
Plus Swagelok fittings are expensive!

The compressions only indented the tube about a 1/4 back the flare may still work. I will try it. I may be able to get some stainless fittings from a supplier of mine. I will check my options.

We have been using some 1/4" Swagelok fittings at my job for a test stand that has to withstand 10,000 PSI sustained. They are expensive but very good product. Their benders are very nice too.

Ditto on the Swagelok fittings. They are the cat's meeeoww! If you're gonna spend the dough, they have a go/no-go type gauge that slips between the tube nut and fitting for tightening them down. Fel-Pro also makes an anaerobic gel type sauce that's pretty sweet for NPT. Similar to the Loctite, it cures hard.

Cab looks awesome on there man!

Thanks for the Info. I will figure something out. Either I will try to get some swagelok fittings from a vendor of mine or I will change them all to flare fittings.

Good news. A vendor of mine that deals with hydraulic equipment is giving me all the necessary SS compression fittings I need to redo my lines.
