to answer your questions... imho keep the truck as stock as possible, with the exception of suspension and wheels. and throw in a few goodies like tilt, tach dash, a/c, etc. you can't go wrong with the stock wood bed with a nice stain and stainless straps. these look real classy with the 67-68 trim too...

having a grapefruit yellowish tan with a white bottom will actually go with the red, i dont think that would look half bad.

Thanks for the input bowtie, I agree with you. I also like the stock look, clean & simple but with the upgrades. I'll probably start working on the bed frame soon here in the next few weeks after I get the body roughed in.

Oh sorry, that was just an example of the way i think a crew cab should be built. I dont have any pictures (or experience) with wood beds. Mine have all been steel. Love the look tho.

I agree about that much too

When planning to resell a vehicle close to stock with minor improvements makes a lot of sense. That's the plan on my build.

Not sure if you would know, but, what frame is under it? Is it a long wheel base 1/2 frame?Has it been stretched? If so, how much and where did you make the cut and stretch? Is the bed a 6' short bed or has it been modified? Appreciate any light you could shed on it...Thanks

The frame was stretched under the center of the cab, it is a half ton frame that has been z'd and boxed nicely. I couldn't tell ya how much the PO is who stretched it, its boxed in where he stretched it. The bed has been shortened to about 5'8" kinda weird idk why he did that since he stretched the frame he could have just added a few more inches to make a regular short bed fit?

Its on bags all four corners. I'm not sure the make of the bags though.
Here's a pic to show the setup. It will be covered with a floor soon.

And a few updated from the past few weeks. Heading to the glass shop this week to have the rear door pieces made. Its not a show truck, but its going to be a cool ride when done i hope!

Got a little bit more done this past week. I had the rear quarter glasses made, got them installed. I figured out how I wanted to do the bed. I made a hinged frame out of 2" square tube for access to the air management system, bolted decking to the framing, laid out cedar for the original bedwood look. I have to find one more steel strip though, my strips were from a stepside bed. I also got some police caps off ebay to help clean up the wheels a little. After I get that last strip figured out it on to the interior!

Got some work done this weekend. I picked up a 10" lokar shifter and a peice of 3/8 steel and made a swan neck shifter. its a bout 28"'s. I also got the seats and front foor panels in, I have to get more clips for the rear door panels. I will hopefully get to install the cluster and glove box tomorrow.
