I saw this on craigslist a few weeks ago, but haven't had the chance to go pick it up. Rainy days equal no work for me so I drove to a little town about 40 minutes away and came home with this very good driver quality tailgate. There is no rust through anywhere - basically just a little surface rust here and there. This is in much better condition than the one on my truck. Not too bad for $50?

As you can see I finally got a battery for my digital camera.

BTW...Here's the 68 fender that I got at pull-a-part even before I got this truck. Couldn't leave it setting there for $35. I think it's gonna come in handy. I also got a good hood off the same truck, which I don't need. I couldn't leave it setting there either

In Louisville on Craigslist. I didn't realize til I got up there that the guy who had it was a board member here. He'll probably chime in sooner or later on this thread.

Hopefully I can get it back on the road to make a few of those Cruize In's over in Hendersonville this year.

I got a little more work done today. I pulled the seat out and gas tank out, and then I pried up all the tar paper covering the floor. Was that stuff installed at the factory, because the floor and paint was perfect underneath it?

This is free to a good home. It's in great shape, and I have all the mounting hardware.

Here's some pictures of some problem areas that are gonna be cut out and replaced.

Here's what I did today. It went pretty smooth.

After that we rolled the truck outside and I started pressure washing the frame. IT'S DIRTY! Gonna go pickup some degreaser and oven cleaner tomorrow and finish the job.

I hope the PO got those mice, and here's some more pics for ya.

I got as much gunk cleaned off the frame as I could with the pressure washer. Picked up 5150's towbar and turned it around. Then I pushed it back in the garage and got it on jack stands. Now the fun begins!

Trai, looking good! One observation: go by Harbor Freight & get some 6 ton jack stands. The ones you are using look like they are on crack

I am not gonna do anything about the paint this time around. I am just gonna repair the rust areas, clean and paint the frame, and put it all back together and drive it. I will put some nice 18" wheels and tires on it, and run some lower trim, but I am going for the shop truck style

I have been cleaning up the frame and getting it ready for paint the last couple of nights.

I also got the rear crossmember out and the brace right behind it to make room for my tank.

Got the motor and transmission separated this morning and put the motor on the engine stand I bought from 5150.

I've had the rear of the frame painted for awhile but haven't posted up any pictures. I'll try to get some better one's soon with the digital camera.

The front of the frame is clean, rust treated and ready for paint, but I am gonna wait until I get the cab off so I can clean the frame under it really good before I finish painting the whole thing.

I was gonna take my front crossmember and have it blasted because it's so hard to clean in all the nooks and crannies, but the guy helping me this morning suggested I take some naval jelly and brush it on then pressure wash it really good. I am gonna give that a try.

On the front crossmember you can use oven cleaner and it will clean and strip most of the paint off it for you.
