Have you considered swapping just the axles? Might save some money. There is some stuff like that on craigslist sometimes, though. Also, you might consider getting the suspension off of an 80s model at the junkyard. It is cheap, rides a little better, and you will get 5 lug AND disc brakes.

I have a 5 lug front disc set up already and I have a 5 lug rear but its leaf spring, I have thought about swapping the axles but mine is a 68 and it has the narrower rear end. So the axles from the leaf rear will be too long.

That's right, Rus. Sorry, Ranger, I am so poor that something having discs on the rear doesn't even cross my mind

Re: Rusbuilt's 68 C-10

I ordered my seat cover and I am still debating on what suspension kit I want to go with. I really like the ece 4/6 kit but I'm not sure I want to go that low.

Its a black 71-72 scroll cover from truckseats, It doesn't match my year but he gave me a really good deal on it. I couldn't pass it up. The seat I have is near perfect as far as foam goes, I should be in good shape.

Re: Rusbuilt's 68 C-10

Buy some spindles, best way to lower the front and probably the most expensive, then lower the rear with some lowering springs or 2" blocks.

I went with cut 1 coil and a 2" block i was happy.

im to the south of you all manchester/mcminnville area. Now in TX but cant wait to be home to cruise my truck a little this fall.

I pretty much have everything I need to do disc brakes on the front but I have just been searching for the best suspension kit for me. My rear springs have been heated by the previous owner and there front were too. the truck sat all lopsided, so I took them off and replaced them with some that had a coil cut off. idk what I want to do yet, I will make that decision soon though.

Re: Rusbuilt's 68 C-10

I was happy when cutting 1 coil off my stock non heaed front springs lowered about 2" i tried jeep springs for the rear and liked the look but that was all they were way to stiff bottomed out on bumps etc couldnt haul ANYTHING (you stood in the bed and it was on bumpstops)

If you remember what my 68 looked like, I think it is 6 1/2" (lowered coils and spindles) in the front and 5" (springs only) in the rear. It has a pretty good rake and is really low in the front end. I had it approx. 4" all around before and I could drive it anywhere, now I have to watch and avoid places.
