Re: The Fuse is Lit...

Hey Rocket, just wondering why you needed to add the extra length to the motor perches? Was it only to move the engine/tranny back 1.75"? I am trying to plan my motor install and really don't want to buy a bunch of high$ parts. If I can make or modify parts to that's what I to do. Where did you get the adapter plates? Did you make them or buy them? thanks

The length was only added to the passenger side so I could clear the A/C compressor, so if you don't have the A/C you won't have to add the length.

The 6 cyl perches are mounted in the rear holes and should move the motor the closest possible to the firewall, allowing me more room up front for fans. That is the plan anyway.

Here is a the thread I used to help me plan it out http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=413855. I bought the #2 adapter plates off ebay and modified the passenger one to work. But with the instructions on that thread they should be easy to make. Hope this helps, let me know if I can answer anything else.

Re: The Fuse is Lit...

Have most of the work done until I can put the cab on the frame. I am currently working on the cab at a friends bodyshop. I thought you might want some pics of the progress so far

Trying to use the fuel lines from the 04 Burb by rebending them.

Actually, I don't know. A buddy had a driveline at his shop and we knew the yoke was close to the right size. I took it home and the yoke slid in.
His best guess was that it is from a early 90's Chevy truck big block which, he said, have the 400 turbo behind them, I have also read that Muncie 4 speeds also have the same 32 spline as the 400.
I do not know this as fact so take it with a grain of salt (I read it on the internets so it must be true!!) I had to have the 400 because my tranny is the 4l80e. I think the 4l60 take the 350 yoke.
I have my motor mounted in the 6 cyl position, if it were in the 8 cyl position it would perhaps bolt in, here are some pics.

Lol, no kiddin', what are the chances of just finding a driveline laying around that happens to fit your build. Will be a real blessing if it works out.

Yep, same here. At least my motor and trans came with the output yolk and hopefully I can just have my stock drive shaft shortened. I do plan on once I get the motor and trans in measuring what I need and calling a few salvage yards, maybe I'll get lucky.

Re: The Fuse is Lit...

Okay, I am looking for some opinions from my forum buddies.

It has come time for some paint on the cab. I was going all (Torch) red on the entire truck, but then I thought about putting the white top back on which is original. I expressed my thoughts to my lovely wife and see stated something about questioning my sanity. In her humble (although important ) opinion, if the top is white the bottom and front must be also. ('68 style).
So I turn to my friends for your objective advice...

1-All Red All the Time

2-Rock the White Top

3-'68 Stylin'

So come on you opinionated ones and you lurkers too. Let me know what you think. Don't worry about hurting my feeling... my wife sure didn't.
