Here we go again...

This will be my fifth official swap attempt, including two of my own and two friends' trucks. I have had both a 5.3 and a 6.0 ready to drop in this truck, but due to 'life' happening, I sold both setups. Starting from scratch again with an LQ4 that I plan to hook to my current 700r4, at least until it croaks...

Here's pics of the truck's current state and of the 350 currently residing in the engine bay:

Re: '70 c10 lq4

The plan is to drop this motor in with a few minor upgrades, keeping in mind my budget. We'll see how that goes

Here's one of those little upgrades I picked up yesterday

The wheels are Showheels Streeters, 20x8.5, 5.25 backspacing and 20x10, 5.5 backspacing. No spacers required. Yours look like Coy's? You should be able to get them in the same setup, but will want 5" bs on the rear with the stock '67 rear axle. Later axles are wider and require more bs.

Haha- I may be a while- this one's getting freshened before installation. Though you don't seem to be in a big hurry

Count me in here too. There's nothing I want more then an ls swap for my truck. And like others have said, I'll let you do all the R & D and I follow suit. (or what ever the saying is) Good luck brother.

Re: '70 c10 lq4

if you have any questions I'll help where I can. I have done two these now from top to bottom. If you can do a regular engine swap, you can do one of these easy.

Re: '70 c10 lq4

Thanks for everyone jumping in! I went back and forth deciding whether to upgrade the small block or go LS, then I stumbled upon this 6.0 on the cheap, did some quick number crunching and realized I could have more power, reliability, and dependability for less money (that's what I told my wife, too). Gonna try to keep it simple and inexpensive, but done right. We'll see how it goes- I do tend to get carried away sometimes...

We thought heavily about it, but between our current busy schedule and the not-so outstanding weather forecast, we're pushing it off 'til the fall show, which tends to be the better one anyway. That is unless, of course, the truck is torn apart for an engine install in October
