Re: Project: Bodydropped 71!
I got all the air plumbing done, along with all the compressor wring. Also did a little work on the dash and build a driveshaft/trans tunnel.

Re: Project: Bodydropped 71!
copper tubing? does that hold up pretty well? I was thinking when I bag my 71 that I wanted to try either braided or steel tubing. sweet truck man

Re: Project: Bodydropped 71!
i am digging the truck so far, love the copper tubing look, so retro, i do have a question, what is the reason for the phat mat on the rear frame rails?

Re: Project: Bodydropped 71!
oh yea man. I understand that. Ive just never seen it done. I have a guy locally that makes braided stainless lines for big rigs etc. thats what I am going to run on my 71. its never seen, so its more of a peace of mind type thing. I want to be able to get it all sealed up and forget it. well at least until I blow a bag or burn up a compressor.

Re: Project: Bodydropped 71!
did you use standard flare fittings like for gas lines or something? should hold up just fine. all my buddies with the plastic tubing and push connect fittings have issues with leakdown etc. I think the hard line will help with the bounce. can't wait to see how it works for ya

Re: Project: Bodydropped 71!
I am using all push connects... My brother has had hard line on both of his trucks for years without any problems.

Re: Project: Bodydropped 71!
Secure that copper tube with alot of clamps. Vibration causes copper tube to "work harden" and it can become brittle and break.

Re: Project: Bodydropped 71!
IMO, copper is not the best choice for an air suspension. Do a little research on the net and you will see many opposing viewpoints on this. I do hope it works out for you. Your project is lookin good!

Re: Project: Bodydropped 71!
really? is it cause of the soft wall of copper? I could see that. it would be subjected to moisture inline and in cold climates cause swelling and whatnot.. hmm. only time will tell for sure huh? looks good though man

Re: Project: Bodydropped 71!
yea. in one of the photos it almost looked olive, then the other it looks more like gunmetal. anyway. nice choice. when I ever get to that point, I am gonna be spraying my 71 stepper the factory dark green metallic.
