Re: 1969 Camaro "Yenko" Clone

Nuke,
Super cool project! I have a couple of Camaros on my list of things to build. I have to add on to my shop first. I just don't like the idea of storing my boat outside if you know what I mean. I will be watching this one. Both of mine are going to need just about all the sheetmetal repair/replaced on them. Keep up the good work!

Wow that's going to be awesome. Rallye Green is the color I would have chosen as well.

Re: 1969 Camaro "Yenko" Clone

Well i have gotten a bit more done this week, the passenger side is now minus a rockerpanel and wheel tubs and quarter drop box. Cleaned it up a but, but have to clean some more yet, weld up a bit and sandblast some, then it is rocker time. Here is the DES subframe connectors and a little help from a blue friend.

Re: 1969 Camaro "Yenko" Clone

Well, went out today for a few hours and got the rocker installed and that area all cleaned up. Got the rear panel off, and both quarters completely off. Gotta love how someone tried to patch the rear panel on the ccar, cut out a hole and welded a piece overtop of it, HACKS! I will say one thing about this car, the trunk floor, rails, and rear inner valance are in amazing shape, just a cleaning up of them and done. Gotta love that, these always get replaced whan i do one of these cars, this will be the first time i am keeping them. Feels kinda good. So tomorow i am gonna get the rear all cleaned up and ready to install the quarters and everything else! Later

Pics to come

Re: 1969 Camaro "Yenko" Clone

Well now that th rockers are on and i have the back end completely cut off it is time to spend some good quality time with the grinder and flap discs and hammer and dolly and do a little cleaning and straightening, once that was al done it was time for some quality AM panels to be brought out. Well they fit pretty good, had to do a little tweaking. Spent a few hours getting them all lined up nicely, got a great trunk lid gab and beat the crap out of the wheel tubs, but once done, a perfect fit to the qtrs. Here are some pics of her all clecoed together.

Re: 1969 Camaro "Yenko" Clone

Once i got it all fitted nice and bent how i wanted, i took it all apart again and sanded the insides and tops of everything that i do not want to do later. Curled up inside of a trunk, not much fun! got my edges all cleaned up, holes drilled and my U-POL weld thru copper primer put on for the initial burn in process with the good ol' trusty miller.

Nuke, the car looks great and I get sick of you guys making it look so easy! I know for a fact you have some serious time tied up in this last series of pictures. Wow! How much cash am I going to have to lay out for quality panels like you are using on yours? I guess I shouldn't even waste my time using the cheapo panels on ebay? thanks, and keep up the good work!

Thanks, You have to remember one thing, i do this for a living, so as to the serious time, it is actually not all that bad, very reasonable to be honest. All of these panels are made by golden legion manufacturing, they fit pretty decent, still need some manuipulation thou. All the panels for this car were about 3000, so not bad for a complete car. TRUST ME ON ONE THING, SPEND YOU MONEY WISELY, BETTER OFF BUYING A GOOD PANEL RATHER THAN CUSSING OVER A CHEAPO PANEL FOR THREE WEEKS. I KNOW

You bet it is.

Well, me and Graham and his wife Heather discussed the car some yesterday, i believe we may be changing gears a little on the final outcome for the look of it, but for the better, i find out a bit more in two weeks when i get back from Vegas. I am excited and i know they are also. Lots of plans i tell you.
