C-notch is complete!!! Moved the shocks too

Inside of the frame

Did you just weld a stud on the axle plate for the shock to mount to??

There is a stud welded on to the plate that the u-bolts go through. We could have just ordered shorter shocks, but they were at such an angle after lowering it, it seemed like they would be more effective this way.

I did the same thing only used front shocks on the rear..they are so much shorter..I just pressed out the metal sleeve on the bottom eye.

Re: Crewella - My '81 crew cab, short bed 1/2 ton

Update! We were having troubles getting the rear brakes to work, but they seem fine now, and I didn't have to replace the master cylinder.

I'm in the midst of wiring up a 7-way RV trailer plug and some wires for a trailer brake. The brake pedal is loose and the brake light switch doesn't always turn off. I'm not sure what needs to be done, but I'll look into it. I cut the license plate to allow access to the trailer hitch. I'll just use a screw driver to remove the plate for now, but I'm gonna look into getting a hinged license plate frame. Any ideas for good ones?

The bed is going on tonight too so I'll have pics later or in the morning!!! Yippy!

sounds like we are having similar problems. my pedal doesn't fully return and the brake light stays on unless you pull it up the last 3/4 of an inch and I believe my brakes are dragging. I haven't had a chance to mess with it this week though. I swapped the master/booster from my parts 'burb so i dunno if the master is bad or maybe I have some air in it.
also, have you had a chance to ponder putting the 'burb overhead console in?

Bring on those PICS!!!

most of the 70's and 80's monte carlos, regals, cutlass had flip down license plates over the gas tank in the back. if you use them upside down you can have a flip up plate for $10 instead of buying new ones for $100 from some custom shop.

stole this pic from superchevy project american hero. same thing just mount it upside down so it flips up instead of down.

Also check 3rd gen camaros, and the last two body styles of caprice (91-96 and the one before) for the flip down plate brackets.

That's great info about the license plate frames! I'm going to the junk yard this weekend. Joe231, I haven't done anything with the overhead console, but I will soon since I need to get some interior swapping done. Pics in a moment.

I don't know if you follow my CCSB build thread, but my brake pedal not fully returning was my booster. I swapped boosters and now all is good

I saw that on your thread but I'm pretty sure mine is the pedal.... It's really sloppy and needs some new rubber bushings. It moves side to side and back and forth about an inch.
