Project : Chili Verde 1971 short fleet 2wd

Over the last 15 years i've owned at least 10 chevy trucks. So i have never had a shortage of parts laying around. So with these parts i've decide to put a truck together using old recycled parts that i've collected over the years. I'm just doing my part to save our environment by going GREEN! Reuse , Renew , Recycle... hence the name "Chili Verde" i started off with a 1971 short bed fleet side that i bought from a wrecking yard out in the cuts, you know a straight six , 3spd, power nothing. i got it home and proceeded to take off the front end to see what was going on there. the sheet metal was a bit rough so i decide to put a 68 front clip on that i've been sitting on. now we're headed in the right direction. by the way the truck cost me $1200. next i had a set of Air Ride c-10 air bags set up so i installed that as well as front and rear sway bars ,shock relocates, lowered front control arms and c notched the frame. i realize there are some really cool products out there to lower this truck, but the whole idea was to build a truck with stuff i had collected over the years. my next build will have a Dropmember and all that other cool stuff... so enjoy the pictures here we go. Tony

Re: Project : Chili Verde 1971 short fleet 2wd

its a crate motor with a turbo 400 trans, just about everything on the motor was powder coated. all the parts were pulled off of one of my parts trucks to put this together. i can't tell you how many trips i've saved to the parts store because of the parts trucks parked out back. Here are a few shots of my buddy Greg, and i getting ready to install the motor. i have the mask on..

Re: Project : Chili Verde 1971 short fleet 2wd

Back on track with Chili Verde........ I'm in the process of finishing 3 trucks.. yeah its crazy but I have to get my plate cleared before i can move on to the next project... so here's an update on my 70 short bed , It's been on the shelf for a bit but i'm really startinbg to get stuff done around here. I also want to that our fellow board member "Snacks" for his help on my 70 blazer. His help has been a great motivation for me to knock out my projects. Thanks dude...

Your truck is looking good and the seats turned out great! The color combo sounds killer too, and I'm also pretty jealous of the collection you just showed above

Re: Project : Chili Verde 1971 short fleet 2wd

Ok so I'm makeing some progress on Chili Verde. here are a few pictures of the bed with a 20X10 Coy with a 295-45-20 wheel stuffed under it. all the body work is done on the bed and the roll pan is welded in place. I'm getting there.

thats a 275-45-20 next to a 295-45-20 look at the difference in size. crazy
