Two piece driveshaft/flip kit question

I have a 75 C20 with a two piece driveshaft. I ordered a C20 flipkit through godfather customs.

(BTW they sent parts for a c10 and now won't return my calls or emails)

I plan on just welding a new set of perches 180 degrees from the originals and moving the axle on top of the leaf springs. The directions from the kit say for a two piece drive shaft say to move the carrier bearing up one inch for the 5 inch drop.

Since mine will likely drop 7 inches (due to the leaf spring pack thickness) should I move the bearing up 1.5 inches?

If I move the carrier bearing up vertically it shouldn't affect any driveline angles right?

Re: Two piece driveshaft/flip kit question

Before you weld your spring perches 180 degrees out,... I would check the pinion angle in relationship to the trans tailshaft.
With your 7" drop,... you need to verify that the trans yoke is not shoved to far into the tailshaft of the transmission, and that it has enough travel, forwards and backwards, as the suspension compresses.

Myself,... I would just buy the correct flip kit.
Most flip kits also move the rearend towards the rear of the truck, to help keep the rear wheels centered in the wheelwell opening.
Look at Belltech or Western Chassis for good flip kits.
Also www.performanceonline.com is a good source for C20 parts.

Re: Two piece driveshaft/flip kit question

Thank you for the response. I just called POL and they dont offer a kit for the C20. DJM says they have a kit but it doesnt work with the solid mounts on the 14 bolt rear end.

I found some perches from Barnes 4wd that have three holes so you can move the axle back.

Anyone wanna chime in with a link to a flip kit for a C20 with solid perches?

Re: Two piece driveshaft/flip kit question

I bought the new perched but I'm not going to use them now. Picked up drop shackles and hangers. Going to install those and pull 3 leaf springs. Should give me about 6-7 inches.

Re: Two piece driveshaft/flip kit question

I got.them off another board member. I know DJM makes them. Western chassis makes a one ton version that someone else here used without much of an issue.
