Not sure how much of this will help, but I did a "Z" (2") on my '64, and it's detailed in my build thread posted below, starting at Post #196.

Our frames are very similar, and I think that a lot of the info will transfer to your '72. I have to tell you this before you start the job: The work of "Z-ing" the chassis is pretty simple as long as you take good measurements and try to stay as accurate as possible. Measure twice, cut once. Don't over-cut, and what I mean by that is, more is not always better. Honestly, I wouldn't go over a 2" "Z" because the higher you go, the more problems you will create. Problems like clearance between the steering shaft and the driver's side upper control arm, transmission clearance at the cab floor, drive shaft clearance at the rear of the cab, making a custom transmission mount, clearance between the top of the tire and the inner fender, and other issues. If you're willing to do a lot of fab work, then a bigger "Z" might be OK, but just prepared to do a lot more fab work.

A chassis "Z" is a very inexpensive way to lower the stance and gain ground clearance. The area where a "Z" can become a bit overwhelming is in the areas other than the chassis, meaning, everything that touches the chassis. Things like inner fenders, core support, steering, brake lines, motor mounts, and such. These items are the things that you'll wind up spending the most time on if you're trying to do a nice, clean job.

N2, normally I would do a search and post the links but if you look at the other threads he has started you will see at least 5 other threads that are all similar vague questions that he obviously didn't bother to search before he asked.

Thank Lolife99. That was a very good build thread. It was on the best build threads on air bags, zeeing the frame theads, i have ever read. thanks for the information/pictures. i saved a lot of pictures. "Teach a man to fish and he eats for a life time." and a again, thanks for sharing.

Yes sir, you usually do offer good advice, links, etc. I didnt mean to come across harsh, but I feel its better to not post than post with out offering assistance.
