2005 Chevy Tahoe Gas mileage help

Hello all;
I have a 05 Tahoe all wheel drive with 5.3 motor. I average 17mpg. Is there anything I can add to this truck to help increase gas mileage? I know keeping out of the gas etc....

One thing I did not mention.... 4.10 gears.

I was thinking air intake, exhaust and chip?

I did everything to my old Silverado. Exhaust/intake=didn't notice any mpg. E-fans helped a bit, but you already have those. Custom tune helped quite a bit for power and maybe 1-3mpg. Shon on here can do mail order tuning.

Good lord I'd love to pull 17mpg in my tahoe!!! I've got intake, longtubes, full exhaust, custom tune and 3.73's and 15mpg is about the best it ever gets, with an average closer to 13-14. Consider yourself lucky!

WOW. I did not know that I was on the high end with the Tahoe. I am used to my Silverado getting 19-20.

I am going to tinker around and see what I can find. Everything is stock still and I am hand calc the miles not the computer.

X2! My 01' 1500 5.3 Suburban 4wd averages 12.3. I wouldn't know how to act if mine averaged 17 mpg!!!

Re: 2005 Chevy Tahoe Gas mileage help

I would have never paid for a throttle body spacer because I thought they were useless as most people post and I really didnt believe the hype. I cant guarantee it will help yours but it made a difference for me. I was givin one in some parts trade so I put it on and was amazed. I have an 05 hd 2500 w 6.0. I started out averaging 12.8 13.2. I installed a huge magnaflow, cold air intake, bypassed the throttle body cooling, ls6 heads to raise compression with identical flow, a tuner these got me to 13.8. A few weeks ago installed the airrade spacer and last 2 tanks were 14.7. I do the math at the pump and have a scan guage monitoring which is pretty accurate. I feel that is a huge gain compared to all the other upgrades

I may just have to try one of these spacers then. A small price to gamble, considering how much I spend to keep gas in the tank.
