Re: 70 short bed: All in the family

Here are a few pictures of the truck after I got most of the assembly done. I still have the 5 lug ralley wheels on it because I was trying to decide what wheels to run.

Re: 70 short bed: All in the family

On the inside again, I installed the ECE ash tray/cup holder conversion and a Sony MP3 player. I mounted the antenna on the underside of the truck for a cleaner look. Thats an old hot rodding trick and it works out nicely.

Here is the picture...I also added a 12V cigarette lighter in the dash because I run a computer to monitor the motor so I can fine tune my ECM Chip

Re: 70 short bed: All in the family

Well after a lot of debate I went with 20" coys. I wanted the intro Vista but I just couldn't talk the wife into it. I still have the ralley wheels though so I go with an older look.

Re: 70 short bed: All in the family

Here are a couple other pictures of the filled in cowl and the upper cab seam. People really comment on the LED tail lights which are fully programmable. I still haven't cut the hole on for my receiver hitch but I'll get there.

Sharp looking truck, we just need a finished interior picture now of it all done.
Also how long in total on the build.

Re: 70 short bed: All in the family

So I bought the truck in Washington State were my dad cut down the tree and made the bed wood plus did some of the chassis assembly. I built the motor and transmission while I was living in Texas and had the motor shipped to Seattle to meet its new home. The truck went to Montana for body and paint and during that time I moved to Tucson,AZ where the truck underwent some of the final assembly.

I want to weld up a stainless cold air intake for the motor to get it running a little better but, I am getting 22 miles per gallon!

My next projet?...A car that has been in my family for over 50 years and has been sitting in a barn in Montana for 30 of those years. Its been a 3 year project but its ready for paint now.

Here are some pictures of the finished interior. Not the best but I plan on taking some better pictures eventually.

Cool truck. It's a small world I'm in Longview. We also lived in Tucson for a few years. Can you send some of that nice weather up this way?

Re: 70 short bed: All in the family

Thanks for all the comments guys. I have a lot of time into this truck. The writeup doesn't really cover the amount of work that went into it. I have a ton more pictures and I should probably post all the modifications/upgrades that were done.

The vintage air unit recirculates air from inside the cab. My fresh air vents on the kickpanels are useless now but I had modified them prior to paint so they will hold speakers someday.

The seat came out of a late 80s Ford. I had to build risers for it so it would sit the way I wanted it. I raised the front 1.75" and the back was lifted .25". I built brackets so I could use the stock seat mounts. Why hack up the floor anymore than it needs to right?

The truck was actually purchased in Longview. It had been sitting in a storage unit for many years. The truck was originally used in a peach orchard in eastern Washington.
