Thanks for reading through all that, I hope I don't disappoint with the more...but long story short, it is NOT running remotely finished...

For the continuation of the '65 look at this thread:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=1#post7812257

Now, on the other subjects, the crew cab is gone, the shop got completed and I worked on a few project in there, but ultimately life got thrown a curve, I ended up selling that house and getting a divorce. I am just now getting back to having a shop, I have to rent one at this point.

For the '65, the LS that we put in it covered by the linked thread above, came out and went to my son, Owen. It was swapped into his '84 C10 in the Henry thread. So now, the '65 just sits again...

Well darn, I am sorry to hear about the divorce.

The 65 will get its turn again someday I bet. I really admire what you have done with your two sons. I followed Korbins stepside build from the beginning (I was in high school when it started).

Keep up the great work.

Re: Project Old Blue, 1965 C10, Rebuild Version 2010

Post #251 above was the last post I made on this thread when I was still married and had a shop at home.

Well its been long enough on this project since I worked on it. If you did not follow along a few years ago as I tried to get it road worthy for LST in Conroe Feb. 2016, below is the link for that attempt:

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=1#post7812257

Did not make the 2016 show at all, but I did end up getting it running enough to put on a trailer and attend C10's in the Park 2017 with a old buddy from Tyler.

This past summer, I pulled the LS and stuck in in Henry, Owen's '84 C10. We took it to C10's in the Park 2019. We are currently redoing the interior on it and getting it ready for the summer and looking to take it to C10's in the Park 2020.

Since pulling the LS to swap into Owen's truck, my '65 has just sat there.

So, back in January I bought 3 passes to C10's in the Park 2020 and told both my boys we are taking 3 trucks this year, it they can get theirs running and ready, I will get mine running and ready to go...

Stay tuned for updates as things move along. I might show snips in this thread of Korbin's new project, "Trouble" a '73 GMC step side and the updates to "Henry", Owen's '84 Chevy C10.

Re: Project Old Blue, 1965 C10, Rebuild Version 2010

I am currently working on cutting down/reworking a 2005 Tahoe harness to use in my truck with a 6.0 LS and 4L80e trans. I'll get some pictures tonight of that...

Here are some pictures of Trouble, the crack around the steering box was repaired by a previous owner, but not to our standards. This is the first thing we are going to address.

Carpet and Lower Door carpet panels installed yesterday in Henry.

Just need to rehab the door sill plates before they go in.

Re: Project Old Blue, 1965 C10, Rebuild Version 2010

Last week was my second furlough week. I spent the time at the farm with my parents and helped them out for the week, actually there for 9 days.

Dad and I worked on pipe fence around the courtyard between the house and the barn. Started the repair of the rotten corner post of the barn also. It was hot and dry, so I changed clothes about 2 or 3 times a day because they were drenched with sweat. Very pleased with the work we did and the area looks so much better. Dad texted me last night and he had done a little more work yesterday. I guess me being down there and getting a ton accomplished helped motivate him to do what he could without my help.

Removed a tree, tons of weeds along the fences, set 6 posts, added top rail and bottom rail, and set a pier foundation for the new corner post for the 91 year old barn. Looking at the barn, we have all 4 corners to do and at least 2 posts on the south wall. We only worked on the southeast corner since it was completely rotten and not even supporting the barn...

Here is the first section we worked on. Had to set one post at the water trough, add the top rail, cut off the horizontal rails above the trough and add new wire panel. The one wood post left where the rails use to be, has been removed too, but no picture after we did that.

Re: Project Old Blue, 1965 C10, Rebuild Version 2010

Next section was to the right of that section. Needed top rails, one post set and bottom rail. No good pictures of that section.

This set is the fence that runs perpendicular to the first one, goes back to the barn and to the other end of the pen. We concentrated on the barn side, set 5 posts and set up for 2 new 16' wide gates that we had to order, so those did not get installed. Had to remove a tone of old wood fence, weeds, one tree and general clean up.

The tractor is sitting where one of the 16' gates will be in that picture. The last picture is at the gate post looking away from the barn.

Lastly we worked on the corner of the barn. The wood fence in this picture is from the 16' gate back toward the barn. This will be replaced with pipe fence next time I head down to the farm. the post at the end next to me and the barn is completely rotten at the ground...

Re: Project Old Blue, 1965 C10, Rebuild Version 2010

Well, had to order the flex plate bolts for the LS as the OE ones are MIA. Those came in, but this past weekend was more about the rewire for the customer than time for my own stuff.

Last night I got the factory wiper harness and delay control reworked to function with the universal AAW harness for his C10. The new harness only has a wiper motor power feed wire.

The only wires I have to hook once this is in the cab, is the power wire from the AAW harness, a ground wire, and the dash light wire.

Might need to research your connections. I have a delay set-up as well & I'm deciding on the wiring options now as it seems like the best way to go vs. using the original stuff (although it actually didn't seem bad per say).

Did plenty of research to get to this point. I had the OE diagrams to work from for the 1980 C10. In my head it should work as it is wired just like the original, luckily this will be easy to test out. I just hope all the OE parts are still in good working order...

Re: Project Old Blue, 1965 C10, Rebuild Version 2010

Still plugging away on the '80 C10 rewire. It is taking a bit longer than I had hoped on getting this one complete. Most of it is me not wanting to work in the heat after I get home from my day job.

Got nearly all the under hood items complete. Need to get a ring terminal for a 5/16" bolt for the grounds and hook up the 12V battery feed wires. PCM is mounted, Headlight wiring is complete with relay upgrade, fuse block for PCM is mounted and wired in. I put a Key Hot terminal strip and a Ground terminal strip on the inside of the fender for the owner to have some easy access to wire in future items.

As for the '65, I have been collection parts I need, a trans cooler, fittings, VSS connector to replace a broken one, new oil dip stick tube to replace the bent one I had, and a few other minor items.

Re: Project Old Blue, 1965 C10, Rebuild Version 2010

Thanks Scoti. Based on what I saw as I pulled out the old stuff, there was plenty of potential for some electrical issues...

I hope the end result of the install and the owner being happy with it results in some more side work for me.

You have not missed much on the '65 at this point. I have been using this thread as a place to post up other stuff I have been doing, kinda like Grizz1963 does with his thread.

Got to get this '80 rewire out of my way and get a bit more done on the '65!

Re: Project Old Blue, 1965 C10, Rebuild Version 2010

The rewire of the '80 C10 is complete and the owner now has it back. Glad to see that one completed. Should be straight forward for him to get the LS running. Took in another LS Swap harness rework. Got about 30 minutes into it already just getting the loom and factory harness tape off on the wires.

We have named the red '86, Red Dawg. We figured out the starting issue after replacing the ignition switch, which when using a volt meter lead us to that being the issue, turns out the two fusible links at the starter where toast and the PO had made an attempt to repair, there was enough to read voltage, but the load was to much once you tried to start the truck. Got those replaced with new fusible links and the truck start fine now. The picture is the "fusible links" that the PO had repaired...
