in my experience, having put power steering on several 67-72s over the years, you need to fill the reservoir to the top, then start the motor and turn lock to lock till it quits whining, then refill...i have never heard of a self-bleeding p/s system...good luck and pretty truck

how is the gas tank treatin you behind the license plate? is it pretty convenient? by the way great paint job

I had the same issue on my '69 Camaro when I put a new steering box on it. I filled the resevoir, jacked up the car leaving just a little pressure/resistance on the tires, started the car, and slowly turned it lock to lock. Did it about 5 times and its been quiet ever since. The pump will work the air bubbles out but I think having full load on it for some reason makes them stay in the system. Another thing, make sure your belt is tight enough aswell.

Maybe recheck the fittings to make sure they are not sucking air into the system.

I wanted to know how this tank worked out- This is an older post, So heres a bump and maybe someone knows results after road miles- Anyone else with the Camaro tank installed care to comment on their experience?

Does the camaro Sending unit work correctly with our fuel gauges?

It should be 0-90 ohms just like your truck sender.

I can't figure out why all the speculation on the tank. He took an unmodified Camaro tank and bolted it into his truck. Why wouldn't it work fine ? Lots of Camaros out there running them everyday.

And, if you read his thread he answered the sending unit question earlier. It's the same resistance as a truck sender so no mods needed.

I love the concept. I am tryin to figure out if it would be possible to still install a receiver hitch. I was hoping to have that hidden behind my license plate rather than hanging down.

Kevin, the confusion or speculation, as you call it, stems from a few other posts. There seems to be a misconception that these tanks will not work in these trucks. I have read in other posts that filling from behind the license plate is impossible. In fact I just read it this week.

But this has to put in the proper context. That post that was referring to use with a blazer tank (and I agree that will not work). But the Camaro tank is a different animal.

I'm with you, this Camaro tank looks straight forward and this post has all the info....Michael.

I have been looking into this as well. I think the problem is the Camaro and Chevelle tanks are a few inches wider then the frame rails, so the likelihood of a receiver hitch fitting is fairly low. Most hitches I have seen bolt to the bottom and/or sides of the frame rails. Since these tanks are wider on each side, based on measurements and pictures, a hitch would not fit.

At least that is what I have been able to figure out based on info found.

wow, haven't checked this in a long while... sorry. As for the tank, like txfirefighter said, i don't understand why people keep thinkin it wouldn't work. I have been drivin it for two years and have never had any type of problem with it. Whenever i get my next project i plan on doing it all over again.

Very nice black paint! I never saw it in any of your posts so sorry if it's a repost. What kind of paint did you use? It looks like Lacquer but I guess it could be some of the new Base Clear sanded and polished?

BTW, I love the way you kept the stance of the truck and the Kragers....looks great!

they have always fitted these old trucks....and look great on them in my opinion...although some have accused cragars as bein out of date on here
