526 Medium Gold

This is jmking9's truck. In his build thread he said the color is 526 medium gold.

I really like this color. Does anyone else have their truck painted this color, if so can I see pics of your 526 medium gold please?

Medium Gold Poly, that is. I've had a few that color, if I can find a picture.

I can't say for sure. I never looked into it, but always thought it was the same even though the code is different (551). I figured it looked close enough. I had 1.5 gallon left over from painting other trucks.

Thanks Jeff. Yes, it was a put together truck probably 15-20 years ago. That's buddy my old dog, Irish Red & White Setter. He looked good with that combo

Re: 526 Medium Gold

1970 was a pinnacle year for cool metallic colors. Most of these colors disappeared from the line up on '71 and '72 pickups.

It really is a great looking truck. There are a lot of great rides here on the board for sure, but something about yours really caught my eye. You did a nice job and I really like the color choice.

Re: 526 Medium Gold

The color really gets overlooked. It also gets all poopy looking when old and tired. People tend to judge a color by it's aged state. When I'd get a truck ready to paint and people would ask, "What color are you painting it?" and I'd say "Same color" I'd always get the "ohhh" of disapproval. Then after painted, "WOW! That looks fantastic. Great color!!"

The Medium Gold Poly is a typical car color from the mid '60s-early '70s. Think '67 Chevelle or Nova. I always wanted to do a C/10 in that color with gold vinyl interior like cars would be done. The same goes for the Aqua interior and Light Turquoise Poly paint

Thank you! It does have a unique look that you don't see often. It was all gold with a white top originally, but I added the upper trim and painted the white b/w the trim in 1996 when I was 14. I've been hooked on the look every since. So when I restored it, I knew I was staying with that combo.
And just like Special-k said, everyone thought I was crazy for painting it gold. The only thing I have regreted, was changing the interior to black. I will change it back to saddle someday if I ever get some of my other projects finished.

It is a great combo. Is the "white" truly the white or what? I assume it is since they don't have any off white colors.

So true, color looks different at different times of the day. Post #12 shows color at mid day, this photo at evening.
