Andrew, it is looking sweet! Did you figure out all your wiring problems yet? What are your front calipers off of? They look pretty sweet!

Thanks man, I have not figured out the wiring yet. I did find the leak but the ignition is still acting up. I'm gonna go to the parts house tomorrow and get a new ignition switch and see if that fixes it. And the calipers came off an ARCA car. They're Alcon 4 pistons, not sure which model

Don't worry, it will definitely be driveable by then. Probably never done

Thanks for the kind words!!

Alright I finished up my exams for the semester yesterday so I got a little time to work on Jane this morning. Got a new ignition switch and the electrical problem is resolved, I'm so glad that is behind me haha. I also installed some of the tailgate trim and the passenger side glass. Took a little time to figure out the order in which everything had to be installed but I got it eventually. Also did the passenger weatherstrip. Used a bunch of tape and some 3m high strength adhesive and everything turned out sweet. Next is drivers door but I need to tap the holes on the drivers window regulator, I think it is an aftermarket piece and for some reason the holes are a different size. Once I get that done I can get the drivers door dialed in and I can seal up the cab when my windshield trim gets here.

Re: 72 Cheyenne Super Plain Jane

The tailgate will be getting a chrome cover over the handle and woodgrain band eventually. Also found out that the painter didn't check the tailgate fitment so I'm gonna have to do some finger crossing and porta-power work in the future. Not exactly what I wanted to find out when it comes to finish paint work but can't change it now

Re: 72 Cheyenne Super Plain Jane

Did the bed get disassembled during the repaint? If so, are your gaps even all the way down the length of the gate? To be clearer, looking at the drivers side gap, is the gap narrower on the bottom than at the top? On the passenger side, is the gap wider at the bottom than at the top? If this is the case, check to see if the bed is square. It's possible that the bed bolts can be loosened and the panels shifted slightly to make the gaps fit.

If the gaps are even from top to bottom, you might look at the connection points from the gate to the bed. You might be able to do some tweaking with the connections points to get it to fit. I underlined might because I haven't had to do this so I really don't know. Hopefully this is an easy fix.

Wow, it's looking really nice! It looks like your gate is pretty far off on the LH side. Maybe you can shim the RH gate mount over to the LH side to help that out. I've always assumed the gate fitment was based off how the sides were welded to the floor. Good luck and I hope it's something dumb and easy.

Least boths sides aren't super close like mine are! Shimming should take care of that easily.

The bed did not get taken apart for paint. The top and bottom of the opening where the gate go measure the same so I'm guessing both bed sides need to move to the right. I'll try unbolting the bed sides and see if I can get any adjustment out of it. Also the gap at the bottom is the same on both sides so just the top needs to move. I might be able to get the right side hinge to move up a little which would move the top gap over but idk. I'll just have to mess with it and see

Haha thanks man. The seat is one of my favorite parts of this truck. And I can't slow down, at my snails pace it's gonna take me all winter to finish this thing haha

Thanks man, I hope it's something simple. Worst case scenario I have to use a porta power and move it a little. I'll just have to use lots of padding and cross my fingers.

Thanks for checkin in Bhelton, no major updates just spending some time with the family for the holidays. I did manage to get the drivers side door glass and regulator installed before I left town but that's about it. I tried tackling the windshield install with the help of a buddy of mine but it wasn't as easy as we thought so I'm gonna have to take another stab at it with the help of my dad. I tried loosening up the bed side bolts to see if I could get the gate to fit better and didn't have any luck. I saw the Overhaulin episode where they did the 68 c10 and they used a porta-power to straighten the bed side so I feel a little better about it after watching that. When I get back up to the house I plan on doing the drivers side door to cab weatherstrip and then I'll be ordering my master cylinder, plugs for the rearend, and hopefully a driveshaft soon. Also have a little surprise comin from the man in the red coat but I don't wanna give it away just yet. Nothing crazy, just a little one off piece that'll make this thing a little nicer. Merry Christmas guys, hope everyone enjoys the time with family and friends

Re: 72 Cheyenne Super Plain Jane

Merry Christmas to you and your family as well! On your bed sides, are they still welded to the floor at the rear upright? If so, you may have to cut that weld to be able to get the bed side in far enough to bring in that gap. That's why I was thinking shimming the lower gate mounts might be a better option since your paint is done.

Wow... I love the truck man. I wish I had the circle track hook up like you because those spindles, brakes, and full floater are bad A$$! So many things that can be said about this truck and I have a feeling that this truck will gain a lot of attention.

Thanks man!! Yes the bed sides are still welded to the floor. The gap at the bottom of the gate is even on both sides and it's pretty tight so I don't think shimming is gonna do the trick. I tried putting a couple washers behind the right side hinge to see if I could get anything out of it but I could only fit two and all that did was take the side to side play out of the gate. My dad is gonna make a trip up to Boone this weekend and help me install my windshield and he's gonna bring a porta-power so we can straighten it out, I think that's the only way to go about it without messing up the fresh paint.

Thanks AJohn, I really appreciate it man. The same can be said about your truck, that thing is gonna be sick!! If you are looking for any of specific parts let me know, there's tons of the stuff floating around Mooresville for cheap. Also we gotta cruise once you get your truck done

Alright I have been back home for a few days now but work has been absolutely crazy with everyone vacationing to the ski mountains for the holidays. I had a little time after work tonight to dial in the drivers side door weatherstrip but thats about it haha. My dad is supposed to make a trip up here this weekend to help me tackle the windshield install which is gonna be a challenge and a half but I think with a little patience and the help of the precision youtube video we can do it. Also got a white board to organize my to do list and make a little easier to size up how much I have left on this thing

Re: 72 Cheyenne Super Plain Jane

Last but not least my dad got to go out to the PRI show in Indy a few weeks back for his job and he met farmtruck and asian who were there with nitrous express. He chatted it up with them for a while and showed them some pictures of my truck. They signed this poster for me which is now hanging on the wall in the garage and farmtruck said lets run our trucks!! Haha, guess it's time to go to Oklahoma
