86 CrewCab Dually Build..."BADFIT"

Hi All,

For your perusing pleasure is my build of "BADFIT".

I bought this truck from a Gentleman in Luisiana on 8/23/2013. He bought it from a guy who bought it from the original builder...

http://www.duallyscene.com/forums/pr...are-t4043.html

This is where it all started in October 2008. Some of you might recognize the truck. I spoke with the Gentleman who built it and he said the project was at $30k when he sold it. I cannot tell you too much about the current build other then what I have read on DuallyScene. What I can tell you is that I have fairly big plans for the truck. I hope to be at the Brothers Truck car show in Anaheim next June (2014). So since this is the first post, and I just stated my goal...you can watch my progress. Wish me luck.

I drove the truck a bit today and it was.......................fairly wretched. It is obscenely loud, it shakes, the right front tire leaks and Discount Tire won't touch it, no AC, interior is ugly, switches don't all work, driver door barley closes, the engine compartment has stuff routed every which way, and the exhaust is noxious. So I have my work cut out for me.

The good news...the truck looks cool.

I will keep you updated on the regular as I get the work completed. The first stop is the stereo shop, Audio 2000 in Tucson. We are kicking it off with a new alarm, one piece windows, and sound deadening. It will post up the products and prices too.

First up:

Truck $11,000
Shipping $1,200
Custom plate $54
Registration $35.25

Total: $12,289.25

Ps. I hand washed it myself. Other than that, I will be using various professionals to complete the build. John.

Cool ride. I followed the original DS thread as it was being built. It started off looking like the twin to my CC.....

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Re: 86 CrewCab Dually Build..."BADFIT"

Here is one from the original build. It was not I who built it. Though I will be bagging it and going with a Porterbuilt 4-link set up. I will be starting that process in a few weeks or so. I will take pics as I go. John.

So it's been a little while…I suck at this. Anyway, maybe this will help make up for my lack of decent updating.

Thanks Hankster. Unfortunately, not much of the original truck has survived the new build. Here is a shot of the rear from today:

Looks good, I want to put a big notch like that in my c10. But I am staying static.

Re: 86 CrewCab Dually Build..."BADFIT"

Got new tires. 295 35 24. Quite a bit bigger than the 255 35's. Which caused the truck to be recalled from the paint shop for additional suspension mods. Control arms got re-done. More mods to inner fenders and firewall coming too. Bright side, new tires are going to fit great.

Hi,

Thanks for doing all the hard work of poisting so we can follow.

What radiator is that? I assume you will likely be getting more questions like mine as it appears you are choosing good stuff!

Thanks,
