They do make a drop member for the 60-62 chassis in the front. As for the rear, the frame is different, and they don't offer a kit, but some components will work, such as trailing arms and trailing arm crossmember. The notches will not, or the cross members.

Re: 63 C10 SWB Dropmember Build

Wanted to post up the wheel we will most likely be going with. It is something a little different, but think it will fit the truck well. Unfortunately they don't make it in a 22", so we will have to run a 20x10 in the rear.

Re: 63 C10 SWB Dropmember Build

Small update. We took all the chassis components to the local prison to be powder coated, and they gave me a 30-45 day lead time. Apparently State contracts take priority... It is very hard to argue the $140 price, so now we are just waiting to get them back so we can re-assemble the chassis.

In the meantime, we will start body & interior work, and maybe start the raised bed floor as well. Anxious to start assembly.

Re: 63 C10 SWB Dropmember Build

When you said "local prison" you kind of threw me for a second, and I thought you were talking about a local shop that works super slow! Can't beat the price, and they'll probably do a nice job. There are some extremely talented guys in prison who unfortunately took the wrong fork in the road.

Love the wheel choice. I have ETIII Fuelers on one of my trucks, and those wheels look very, very similar.

Thanks! I couldn't believe it was that cheap, and have had guys take their parts there also with gray results.

Haha... it was the actual prison. That wheel should give it the retro look, but with in the large 20" sizes. I like the fact you don't see them too often on the C10's, especially in the larger sizes.... something a little different.

Re: 63 C10 SWB Dropmember Build

Was able to pickup a 69 12-bolt rear end today, since the stock 63 had pressed on backing plates, and wouldn't allow us to do the 14" brake kit. There is no axle flange for a bracket to bolt to. Someone messed up the axle pad holes on this one, so new ones will have to be welded on.

Can I get the name of the powder coat company? I'm local and that price is very enticing.. Awesome build by the way!! Also on your site it says you stock some Porterbuilt parts. What parts to do you stock exactly?

The company is the prison itself. The division name is Arizona Correctional Industries. If you go to the prison in Florence, there is a building called "Prison Outlet", and you drop everything off there and takes 1 week to estimate. From there, it is usually a few weeks to powder depending on schedule. Call me at 480-420-8175 and would be glad to give you more details.

We do stock PB parts, and it varies on what we carry, as they have a lot of items. Dropmembers, hinges, trac bars, trans cross members, trailing arm cross members, firewall panels, air management brackets, frame cross members, inner frame structures, and so on.

On the larger items like drop members and inner frame structures, they are usually sold before I get them here. Let me know what you are looking for, and with our stocking orders, we can usually cut the build times down.

Nice choice on the wheels. Does the old 63 rear end have good 17 spline axles still?

Re: 63 C10 SWB Dropmember Build

Been a little busy the last week or so, and haven't had a chance to updates the thread. A few weeks back, we started raising the bed floor and getting it ready to test fit on the frame when ready.

We also picked up the 5.3 w/ 4L60 that will be going in. It came out of a 2006 Tahoe w/ 58K on the odometer.
