Re: Loadmaster '47 COE

I had these R4 brackets that would fit my engine, so I bought a new compressor and used them. It was 80 degrees here yesterday, so I went for a ride with the air on, and it seemed to work well. I definitely got the cold right knee!

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE

Rob in your post #153 (I think) it shows the schematic for your linear actuator shifter. How are you doing with this? Is it still working good? I take it the little green board is the thing you got from Firgelli?

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE

Yes and no, the smaller actuator from Firgelli was not up to the task, that being said I went with a actuator I got off E-bay for under $50, to power this I just a momentary DTDT toggel switch. I use a signal from the transmission position switch to light lights to tell me what gear I'm in. It's been working good now for over 50K miles. Check this thread for the low=down http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=722813

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE

OK, working the next evolution of the truck. If you have followed my thread you know I've been planning on building a slide on tear drop style camper for future road trips. This required a couple of changes to the bed area. I had to relocate the fuel filler to the side, kinda hard to fill with a camper covering the gas cap, I also decided to remove the wood on the bed, the wood was warping and the bolts there slightly above the bed floor. Around 90 bolts later the wood was off. I had 3 sheets of 11 ga. cut to size. I will need cut an opening for engine access and build a removable cover. I completed the rear section today and painted it with Rustoleum and a house paint roller. Kinda hard to see but there are over 50 spot welds under the paint.

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE

Nope, 11 Gage (1/8 inch). I felt like 16 Gage (1/16 inch) would be a little on the thin side. After the bed is complete I will weigh the truck to see if it went on a diet or gained a Christmas pound or two. With the wood and 1/2 a tank of gas the truck weighs in at 5000# with 50/50 balance. Sometimes it feels like I'm driving a high end sports car......or not.

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE

Looks great. What do you have in mind for coating/painting it? A bed liner coating would be nice for protection and anti-slip. I'm sure that you have it covered..

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE

At this point I'm just using Rustoleum and a roller. When it comes to painting I am definitely not the man....fabrication, yea I can do a little of that. Paint, nope not me. On the other hand this is not a show truck, this is still, and will always be a working truck. Yours looks great by the way.

Re: Loadmaster '47 COE

Interesting photoshop deejaaa1, thanks. OK, so I finished the bed project today. I am looking into adding some side boards later. Later this week or next I will start on the camper to sit on the bed. So question: can I get away with documenting the camper build here? Anyone interested? Anyone know of a good site to do a camper build thread on? It is being built just for this truck so is it appropriate for my build thread?
Rob
