That's cool. I have been impressed with the 305 I got in my (s'posed to be) parts truck. If you get the chance to grab the casting number on that intake manifold I would be very interested. My research leads me to believe that I have the cast iron version of the same or similar. Hoping to find an aluminum one that I can put on at some point. I know you got more than enough to concentrate on at the moment, so no need to try to get that number now. Good luck on your remaining prep! Truck is looking really good.

Not to derail your train here or stop you from getting ready for LST, but Have you had to get anymore of that Krylon CoverMaxx paint from Walmart recently? I was in my local Walmart where I had gotten it in the past to get an extra can or two to have on had while finishing up mine. They no longer had ANY CoverMaxx paint...It was still Krylon, but something different....I think it was called ColorMaster.

Rod I have never used the shrink clamps. I like the look, but haven't tried them yet. I will have check them out.

I know they have changed the display around and made Color Maxx more prominent. Last time I went in the had the bonus size cans on sale so I bought 8.

The mid 80s 305 has anew undeserved stigma that it's a bad motor. It came out at a time that GM was desperate to increase its federally mandated fuel average. Low hp combined with high gear ratios made very poor power with no torque.
Despite lower displacement the 305 can be built to generate good power but will never be more popular than the 350 for obvious reasons

Yes, that is the common perception. My 2.5 hour drive home from the purchase had me intrigued enough to gather more information. I have spent most of my time behind a 350 and some time behind a 454 in these trucks so I admit to being surprised.

We made it!
It took some dusk to dawn thrashing but Scarlett made it to her place of prominence at @lonestarthrowdown in the @americanracing booth.
It would not have been possible with out an all night push and the help of many great friends, family, and vendors support.
Thanks to @n2billet and Chris @grimdelicateantelope for pushing it through in the final hours.
Thanks to my #relaxedatmosphere brother @_jason_cox and Jared from @hicks_st for invaluable assistance as well.
Come see her shine today at @lonestarthrowdown wearing her latest in #classictruck fashion wear by

Man, the wheels and the extra red details under the hood really sealed the deal!!! Awesome...only one problem...you've successfully kicked the truck envy up a couple more notches!!!

Glad you made it. Looks like the weather's cooperative. Hope you're having a good time. Truck looks great. Those wheels shoot well from the 3/4 perspective on the truck. The spokes have dimension that stands out much more than typical.

I'm not a fan of painting the core support & inner wheel tubs body color but it did look very nicely done. It turned out very nice!

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Scot I had originally planned to just paint the top of the firewall and satin black everything else. We managed to get the firewall cleaned up better than expected, and it just grew from there.

Re: 85 GMC Sierra "Scarlett"

To start my recap of the final push on the build I need go back to last week. Things are a bit sketchy due to lack of sleep, but I will try to cover the important parts.

As previously posted, Jared and Waylon from Hicks Street came by to cut and buff the paint. They spent the day working their magic while Chris and I installed the Slosh Tubz. We focused on getting a good fitment so it took several attempts to get them lined up. It could have been done quicker, but the extra time spent was well worth it in the end.

Jared and Waylon decided that the Mild Tubz needed to be painted red to match the Slosh Tubz filler panels. Chris and I concurred, but we had no time to spray them. Jared and Waylon offered to do the job, so they took them to their shop.

Wednesday Jared brought the tubz back and our thrash continued
