Wanna sell it?
How many times do you guys get this when you drive your trucks? I mean, crap, mine's an old patina style work truck and I still get people asking me.
I always say no. Maybe I should ask how much?

Re: Wanna sell it?
I often think its a way for people to find out what things are worth. I just say no and if they ask what it is worth I say who knows. Now if the Count stopped me on the street and asked, I would play along just for the fun of meeting him and being called "brother" lol.

I've been dailey driving my '64 Chevy Panel for about 5 years. Get numerous offers to sell it. I just tell them the "lane avoidance system" doesn't work.

Re: Wanna sell it?
The last guy who asked me "how much" said "sounds fair" when I told him. It's a truck / Harley package. His next words should have been "I'll take it", instead of "would you take <$500.00 less counteroffer.>" Seems he accepted what I offered it at, and then rescinded it by a separate, lesser amount. To play along, I let him leave, and then I saw him a couple of days later, with the truck, and when he asked me if I was still interested in selling the truck, he bragged around to his friends who were standing there, RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME, that he was going to get my truck for $1,000.00 less than what I had offered it to him for originally. I guess that hurt my feelings, because I didn't say anything, got in the truck, and haven't talked to him since.

Re: Wanna sell it?
I get it once in a while with the trucks. Always say no.
The worst one was my 67 cutlass. Before I got it moved to the back, there was this guy that would stop and ask EVERY day. I'd say no and he'd get mad and start going on about how a kid like me had no need for a car like that. Pretty sure he just wanted the 455 because the cars a disaster.

Re: Wanna sell it?
I don't say yes or no, I say "This one's my keeper" or "What will I drive?"
I had a paving contractor that came to measure on a home I was working on ask me first thing, "Wanna sell your truck?". This one's my keeper. Had to sell the others. "If I owned it I'd restore it and it would never see another day of work". Been there done that, could happen to this one. I hope you find a good one. I've also said, after "This one's my keeper", "Find me a better one and I'd sell this one to you". I've had trucks longer, hated to sell because in time I feel a relationship like a cowboy and his pony. Had this one 18 years, been through thick and thin with it, had to sell the two high option '72 K/20s I also had, bought them all from across the country w/o the help of internet, drove this one home from CA when $15k restored was top money, paid way less, and now we are as one. I'm a heart & soul kind of guy and I'll just finish up with this one and the '67 SWB C1500. If I get anything else it will be back in years from this era that I also love. Been stuck on 67-72s for their practicality forever. My dream is to own a pre-war and a '55 2nd Fenderside shorty, and a stock 1t Advance Design p/u and/or 60-66 3/4t 4wd

Re: Wanna sell it?
I get it all the time, in both the 67’ and the Blazer. To be honest, it gets to be pretty annoying at times.
But being in Canada, I just tell them what I want in US dollars and they usually shut up.

I got the question of "how much money do you have into it?" quite a bit, which I find annoying.

Re: Wanna sell it?
I drive my 65 Mustang (I'd give it a 9, maybe even 9.5 as a driver) and 67 C10 (maybe a 5/6?) quite a bit. About 35K on the mustang since 2012 and about 70K on the C10 since 2006. I'm not sure what kind of vibe I put out, but I never get asked. Like ever (OK, maybe once every year or so?). On either one. Let's just say it's extremely rare. I get the "nice car" "used to have one like its" and what not, but no one ever asks to buy 'em. Maybe they can just tell the answer is no before they ask?
Part of the reason might be I'm not a "sit around and talk" guy. I'm more of a "get in and drive it" kind of guy. A 75 degree day rolling through the Carolina mountains is a dream day for me.

Re: Wanna sell it?
It's odd. The only car I own that I get the "Do you want to sell it' is my 2006 Ranger. Maybe because I never wash it and they think that they can pick it up cheap. But I won't sell it. I've had it 13 years and it's bulletproof. Never failed me in all these years. The a/c finally crapped out on me but that lasted 12 years. Sorry Ford haters, but the old girl has treated me right. Heck, I might even wash it...One of these days.

Re: Wanna sell it?
The fact and truth here is that generally, everything is for sale (not always, but usually)....for the right price.
I have no intention of selling my truck or any need to do so and like a lot of members, I get asked on occasion if its for sale. I am happy to talk about the truck (...why be in axx about it?) its a nice point of pride. If someone asks if its for sale or thereabouts, I tell him, with a big smile.... all discussions about money regarding its worth will be in the 5 figure category. ....they can take if from there...lol. However, regardless of the ol' "I'd never sell this" angle....you would be surprised at how many hold outs would flip that title over in a minute if someone said how about $100k or $200k...this afternoon, lol. Never say never....but most of all, don't be a dick about someone asking about your truck....be proud of it. Its one of the reasons a lot of guys like their classic truck, is that is brings attention so the least you can be is polite about having a nice piece of machinery. There are few things more disappointing than approaching someone who has something like a cool vehicle who get all bent up about having it....out in public. If you don't like attention....get a toyota.......or a Ford All good Coley

Re: Wanna sell it?
When I first got my 81 on the road I got asked often...but now it hardly ever happens....everybody finally figured out it wasn't for sale...but like others, the one people ask about me selling all the time is my 2013 z71....nothing special about it...

Re: Wanna sell it?
I think a lot of people get put off by the "is it for sale" thing because we all have massive amounts of time and $ in our rides, and there's always that guy that makes a "serious" offer of $3,500 and he's doing you a favor by offering that much. I think that's where a lot of the negativity comes from.
Of course, for absolutely stupid money, I would sell any one of my cars/trucks. The Mustang would take about 5K over it's actual value, I still like that one... but for me to part with my C10 that I've owned for 22 years (and has been "on the road" and driveable for at least 20 years worth of time), was my very first vehicle (bought at 15 with my own money I worked for) my dad and I originally built, drove to HS, drove to Clemson, took my future wife on our first date, brought my favorite dog home from the humane center, and was in my wedding... you better bring me a giant bag full of cash at least 3X what it's worth before I would even consider it, and it still wouldn't be an easy decision...

Re: Wanna sell it?
In reference to needing way more than its actually worth, that’s where I am too. From time to time my dad would have a story about someone wanting something so bad that they would offer considerably more than what it was worth. If the owner turned it down, he would say “that’s where 2 fools met, the first one for making a crazy offer and the second one for turning it down.”

Re: Wanna sell it?
I even have people ask while I am working on it in my driveway...If I am working on it, I am not selling it. I would sell it as is...now when it was running I would get people all the time and my wife would say "this is our forever truck", I would say, "make me an offer that makes this not my forever truck."
I don't mind if they ask though...at least they noticed it as a nice/cool truck instead of people going by and not even noticing the truck is cool. |

Re: Wanna sell it?
-
I have had guys ask that question a few times, and I have sold a couple of vehicles that way. Doesn't bother me a bit if someone asks me if I want to sell one of my cars or trucks. I consider it a compliment. Anything I have is for sale except the 1936 Ford Coupe that my Father In Law gave me in 1960 and his 1939 John Deere "A" Tractor that I now have. Any of the other 10 cars and trucks are subject to "leaving the building" at any time. In fact a couple have left in the last few months.... LockDoc
