I will post up pics this weekend, still waiting on tires and oh yeah the truck! Lol, my truck is supposed to show up Friday, getting it transported from Alabama.

Really makes it look good.

If you get this in time, coys has had c-57's on sale for the month of may. I wish I woulda have seen the post on fb earlier and told ya.
Hope you can call and see what they can do for you. Facebook told me they were offering free shipping as well, but just for the memorial weekend.

You might be able to swing a good deal if your on top of it.

Good luck and keep up the good work!

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

Thanks fellas ! Still working on it, it's just been crazy around the office and my wife is keeping me busy with projects.

I have everything I need for the wood bed conversion, replaced a lot of the window rubber and felts / window tracks, etc. It's coming together.

Still looking at wheels but not going to elaborate. It's pretty obvious which ones I'll likely get but still undecided. .. just trying to save a little money so I can get what I want the first time.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

Pictures from the weekend.

I recently bought everything we need for the wood bed conversion. Just getting it in ePrime, then high build and blocking. The inner fenders are almost ready for base. 500 final block. They are really really slick, straight GM metal. I bought them off Ray out in CA.

The front bed panel is also super nice. It had some surface rust on it and just small pitting in the grove where the wood sits but POR to seal and a good heavy DP coat will block out super slick. Without a doubt it's the nicest GM front wood bed panel I have seen (for sale anyway) Thanks Jay.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

It was just ePrime. I usually spray the primer / base / clear at my Brother in Law's place. He has a giant house, full basement, etc. He has a shop, paint booth, workout gym (full gym) an 84 CJ Frame off project, a 99 F250 4 door, a fish and ski boat.. etc.. ALL of this in his basement. Seriously. It's like an airplane hangar.

We have a booth setup with fans both pushing and pulling, french drain in the floor.. it's a clean room basically. That's where I'll be painting my base etc. (and my 68) He just wasn't home on Sat. and the CJ is down to bare metal. I can't roll it out right now because it will suck up every bit of moisture in the air.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

Shawno -- you already know .. But I have purchased both Front and Rear Hellwig swaybars for the GMC. Still collecting parts and dad is working on the interior. We have a new dash pad, gauge cluster, carpet, sill plates, etc. Dad has the dash pretty much gutted right now just detailing things out ..

When they painted the truck years ago it looks like they tried to paint the dash too. It has a lot of dry spray on it. We're going to polish it out while we have it apart.

Dad also took the glove box door to Orileys and had them match / mix a little paint for the steering column. We're going to detail all that out too, new rubber seals, etc. It should look new in the interior soon.

So, finish up the bed, the Interior is well on the way and I'm piecing the drop parts together. .. As soon as I can hammer this thing on the ground I will.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

Ok .. just a little side bar consideration here. Help me out.

For those of you I have never met or might not know, .. I am kind-of into Triathlon. I used to be a LOT more than I am now. I still run between 4-6 miles a day, but I don't compete as much anymore. I say 'anymore' because I had a really bad crash in 2008.

I was in a race, covering 3 States, and 3 mountain climbs. If there are any locals, you may have heard of it. 102 miles, as steep as 17 degrees in places. It's brutal. I did it in 2008 and 2009.. but here's the deal.

The 08 race, it was driving rain for the first 20 miles or so. I pulled through then the SE Tenn sun came out. It was like a Sauna. Roughly ~6hrs pass.

I'm 95 miles or so into it and I start down the decent of the last mountain. My (then) girlfriend of about 3 weeks is waiting for me to cross the finish line. She called my cell.. Adrenaline kicks in.

If any of you ride, anything less than 6hr Century (100 miles) is really fast. For 3 mountain climbs, .. 7hrs is pretty fast too. I was trying to finish in less than 7.

At 6:43 and at the very bottom of the last mtn, I loose the tail end of my bike. 50 or so mph, I touched the brakes and things went to hell pretty quick. The bike started 'cat walking' and whipped me around a little.

Something in the crash popped the seat cover off. Which exposed the metal rails under the seat. Well .. the seat rails impaled me. I lost about 30% of my right calf muscle. 5 days in the hospital, two surgeries later .. Here I am.

My question is. Should I sell my bike? I have a ~$5k Merlin Titanium race bike. Carbon shifters, brake levers, Ceramic bearings in the wheels, everything you can do to one. Magnesium rings on the gears, etc. It weighs about 15lbs.

Should I sell it and buy truck parts??? I just don't ride like I used to. I haven't been on it in 6 months. I can stay in shape just running.

Here's my leg (for proof)

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

Chad I am a C/10 junkie and would sell just about anything to keep my truck build moving along. I do in fact buy and sell a lot of parts online and for my friends. I would have to think would I ever ride the bike again the way it should be rode? Could I ride with a less expensive bike and use some of the funds to further my truck. That being said what is more important to you in this stage of your life? To me a $5k bike would fund A LOT of STUFF for my truck so I would say sell it. But if you ever plan to REALLY ride again you may want to keep it.

Just by the fact you're asking on here you should know the answer

You can always get a cheaper bike and still ride...

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

You're right .. it's just like a part of me. I have put about 20,000 miles on it. (yes, Thousand) Spend that much time on a bike alone, and you kinda become friends. I ran from a sour marriage for three years. I would do anything NOT to go home. I'd ride in the pouring rain, made no difference. It was my time.. BUT, now I am happily remarried to a wonderful woman, AND I have my trucks. The hours I spent on my bike can be spent with her and my family.

I seriously doubt I could sell the bike for $5k. .. but the frame alone was $3k. I may have more than $5k in it. It might bring $2,500. I'm considering it. It's just hanging in the garage. My wife is a runner too and we run together a lot. Really no time for the bikes.

Different topic.. I really think this is the right wheel for my truck. I like the Coys C57 but I just cant pull the trigger. I think the Centerline is it.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

$2500 hanging in the garage
or
$2500 more into my truck and it increases the value by $3500 ?

Just kind of what I'm thinking.

I have another post on the Centerline wheels. I'm concerned they're not going to work. They only offer the fronts in 20x8 with a 4.5" BS. (max) I'm afraid they might rub (?) Considering modular spindles to help out .. we'll see. The modulars will pull the wheels IN .75" on either side so the Centerlines would work that way but not with the stock track width.

Ughh.. I hate decisions.

You might want to look at this thread about CPP Modualr spindles:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=401544

The debate is still on about the 3/4" per side deal.
I personally think they are 3/4" per side narrower than other drop spindles.
I would bet money that the CPP Modular spindles keep your track width the same as a stock disc brake spindle.

I've never got a good answer to "3/4" narrower than what?"
1) stock drum brake spindles?
2) stock disc brake spindles?
3) other aftermarker DROP spindles?

For a static drop truck I would want a 20x8 with a minimum of 5" BS.
My blazer has a 20x8 with a 5.25" BS,... because I wanted them to tuck a little more for bags.
