Re: 4x4s with big rims?

WHeres the the red square body on 22 and 35s? I think you shouldn't go above 18s, but that black one on 22 38s looks clean, even in person it looks great when the sunset around here hits it.

Looks like you picked the wrong crowd to say you like big inch wheels. Sorry guys, but I have to agree with Ghetto here.

While I agree the red 82 is on the extreme end of the big wheel deal, that black 72 has it nailed.

Big rims are for show... to me its kind of a slap in the face to one of the most capable offroad vehicles.

Re: 4x4s with big rims?

We all have opinions. The fact is 4wds are about the tire.A tall wheel with less sidewall left for the tire goes against common sense if you actually go off road. They certainly don`t lend to the classic vibe on early models.Something about big meats says "tough" like nothing else.Newer trucks...Who cares?

Talking Re: 4x4s with big rims?

One reason I went the 20" route is that Michelin XZL's come in 40"+and they can be found reasonably cheap, and yes you can wheel the heck out of um w/ plenty of sidewall action.

Re: 4x4s with big rims?

I guess by the time you`re up to 40" rubber a 20" wheel gets to be more proportionate. That`s 10" of sidewall.

Re: 4x4s with big rims?

the 40" xzl are light i think they weigh in around 250lbs maybe a little more ..........compared to my 52" xzl 400lb tire/45lb rim per corner and i cut lugs off to get the weight down

i think a 20" rim with a good tire combo can come out alright, but it has it's limit. you plan to get serious and or apply the truck to offroad conditions than a 15-17 rim is o.k. so that way you can get a tire with a side wall.

i have an 04' titan and some the 20" rim/ tire combos look good for them i am fixing to do a 20" rim with a 305/55 nitto grappler a/t, i'm sure this won't hold a candle light to old boggers i had on my 71, but i don't get to crazy with my titan (family truck) thats way i have my project truck

or you can go this way like my buddy, his truck has 20" rim with a 38" tire he was running the 46"mich but swapped out for the weight loss to horse power ratio.....
