Spent half the day today messing with the belt set up. I was actually able to retain all my old pulleys, rendering the two sets I got at the pick and pull useless. It is becoming a little more clear that the air cleaner probably isn't going to work with this set up.

Sooo, with a little grinding and fitting, the new brackets worked ok, and all the pulleys lined up like they should. Still need to get the next size belt for the compressor, but three trips to the parts store was enough for me today. I'm thinking of adding a tensioner between the crank and the Sanden, but after going through all the boxes at the parts store I couldn't find one I liked, so I'll see how it works without one. Now as far as the engine accessories go, All there is to do is some final fit and finish work, rehab the York and the power steering pump, and the motor is ready to go in!

hood gaps are all set. Widened the hood by about 1/2 inch.

why did you have to widen the hood? did the fenders change profile when you made the inners?

no, it had nothing to do with the inner fenders. Basically, the hood was not put on until the fenders were lined up with the doors. I'm not sure if it was just THAT hood was poor quality, because the old one did not line up very well either. Maybe all the trucks that came off the line that day had big gaps between the hood and fenders, I don't really have an answer.

At any rate, the gaps between the hood and the fenders was too big. It's not now.

stopped by the shop the other day to snag some progress pics. 6 coats of primer have been laid down, and the truck will be coming home to my shop after the firewall has fresh black paint on it!!! After that it's time for me to clean up and detail the frame, slide the motor in, and back to the body shop for final blocking, painting and wet sanding. I can't wait. I should have it home by Sunday!!!

It's home for the time being. Now it's time for me to tear into it and clean and repaint the frame, mount the air tanks, fuel cell, run the exhaust, rebuild the transmission crossmember, and drop in the motor and transmission. I'm going to take my time on it.

The firewall is painted and cleared, and the interior has the base coat on it for the time being.

For frame paint I ordered chassis black from Eastwood.

Also notice the gap between the cab and the bed... it has been closed in by about 3/4 of an inch so you can't see through it.

17x8 with 4.5 backspacing. 225 50 in front 255 50 Nitto 555 in the rear. Wheel Vintiques. I won't be using them this time around. I barely have any pictures on the computer of them at all, and now they are stacked in my basement with fresh gloss red base coat/clear coat on them.

lookin really good. i'm surprised to see your tail lights installed before paint. i figured you'd install them on final assembly or are they in so you can drive it to the shop?

they are super easy to bolt in to place. they are the only thing on the truck right now with a wire one them... in other words, they aren't functional yet.
