Why Thankyou!!!!! I really appreciate that. And do not worry, there will be more things in the future to look forward to! I am jsut currently redoing my garage, so once that is done, I will find something else to work on. However today was my first day at a NEW job. I am got a job at a potash mine as a operator underground. 1 mile down and 15 outish!!! wow.

Well. Sad day. Thought I would give a small update on havoc. Went to work the other night. Got to work and opened hood to adjust idle a little. Something did not seem right. Instantly the rad cap blows off and she overheats and dies on her own. E-fan controller quite and the fans did not turn on. Overheated to 300 degrees. Not the worst part my carb rod wiggled out and fell into the engine without me knowing. I let her cool down and tried to turn her over. She turned half and turn and the starter snapped in half with a large crunch the engine e stopped. The rod must have fallen into the engine. She seized solid. I can only rock the engine over by hand about a third of a turn. So darn mad and sad right now. 10 grand down the drain. As of right now she is sitting at a friends acreage in his shop waiting for us to yank the engine and see how bad the damage is. I am very sad but oh well. It is what it is. If she is not fixable for cheap then she will become a nice work of art in my basement. Then maybe a boosted 6.0l ls engine!!

I have a 6.0 block for you that has already been magnafluxed for you. Just hone and deck it and you're ready to go.

just lift the heads of the motor , who knows the rod stuck between the valve and the valve didnt closed enough and only bend on the piston with the rod sticking down the bore
if thats the case you just might get away with replacing the valve and the little rod for the carb
it ran till it overheated so i guess the rod dint fell to far in the engine and it didnt reved while it happened
its old detroid iron it takes a little more than a little rod to kill it
oh and buy a watertemp gauge while youre getting your materials

James, sorry to hear this! If you could work a deal on that block, maybe we can get a daisy shipping chain going for you. I could pick it up in KC in September and take it to a member in Mn. Maybe you could start a thread and get some other volunteers. Just a thought.

Truth is. That is exactly how MY luck is. If I did not have bad luck I would have none at all. I always pull the short straw. My gramps and mom have always said that about me. I can make everyone else's rides awesome and run great. But my stuff is very different. I have just learned to accept my fate and live with it. Grin and decidemwhat is next n

Hmmm. Now you seriously have me thinking. I will let all of you know. If this engine is destroyed then that may be a option.


I sure hope I can fix it. But truthfully if it is not salvageable then it will just be time for the LS transplant!!

I'm subscribed! I had seen this going a while back but it had cooled off a bit. Glad to see some activity. You've got mad skills friend and are MOTIVATED! Swiss Cheese was insane and the '69 - Gawd!!!

Hard to say for certain, but can't imagine you destroyed that motor. What little rod are talking about here?

My job takes me underground once in a while at a local gold mine. You are a different bunch working down there - props to all you miners. Talk about hard on equipment tho

I miss my truck!! hope to get it home sometime so I can determine if it is worth fixing. and btw guys, I no longer work underground, the job I couldnt stand. hardly ever home with the family. I missed them, so I am currently back in the autobody buisiness at a chev dealership. Hope all goes well this time. We have had some huge changes in our lives in the last few months, We sold our old house and moved out to martensvile to a newer hous and bigger, it is so nice. I have two shops now. one for storage and on for work, mel quit he rjob and will be staying home iwth the kids and having a book keeping firm from home and a small daycare. My daughter is starting her new school tomorrow. ÙThings have changed alot for us, and in the end i hop it all is better. And for al of you picture guys, here is on of my new ride, 07 Vortec Max!! Have done a few upgrades to her already, Got a few more in stock yet.

It is tough I will say. Kids are so enjoyable but so tough to get much done. Lol. But I would not change a thing ever now that I have them. Udes are the best!!thanks btw.
