Your red truck is amazing. Thanks for sharing this build thread. The stance is perfect! I love the Six!

Re: Project: NO-LIFE,...

Hey Keith can you do me a favor and measure from the top of the fender arch (wheel opening) to the center of the wheel front and rear? I want to see how close your measurements are to my truck since we have almost identical drops. As I get ready ready to install my front disc brake upgrade I want to make sure my front don't dip down any lower than it is. Thanks in advance.

Why would the front height change with just a disc brake swap?

Front: 25-1/8"
Rear: 27-1/8"

Re: Project: NO-LIFE,...

Cause the front is still drum brakes and the po cut, I'm guessing, about 2 full coils off the stock springs. Mine currently is 26 3/4 front and 27 3/8 rear. What size tires are you running again? I have P215/70r15 and P235/75r15. I'll be using the "new" CPP spindles and 3" drop springs.

Re: Project: NO-LIFE,...

You might want a 2" drop spring.
My a-arms are only 2.5" off the ground at the lowest point.

I have a Dropmember for this truck,... that I will install some day.
It really needs to be at least on air to make it practical to drive.

Re: Project: NO-LIFE,...

So it looks like the front will drop down a bit. Are you happy with the rake, another words would if you ever wear out the front tires would you go with a taller tire?

Can't run a taller tire, without pulling the inner fenders.
Another advantage of the adjustability of air ride.
Plus I wouldn't want the sidewall of the front tire to be taller than the sidewall of the rear tires.
That's a pet peeve of mine.
Especially on 20's and 22's.

I love the stance.
Just wish I had more ground clearance up front.

That's a good point since my truck is a daily driver. Sad thing is I sold my 2" springs for the 3" springs

Re: Project: NO-LIFE,...

Put it together and see how you like it.
It has to be better than those springs you have with 2 coils removed.

I've tried and will continue to try and buy both (the truck and the blazer). It's not going to happen, so I just go up to his house and get my fix.

Speaking of ground clearance up front... My headers are now the lowest point up front since static 5.5 x 7. What are you running exhaust wise, headers pipe routing etc... my truck hates speed bumps right now.

Thanks

Re: Project: NO-LIFE,...

Eric,

Im sure lolife99 will chime in with what he has done.

I have the same issue now, and was debating on getting some shorty headers. But for the cost and since there really isnt much of a HP gain from shorty headers I just purchased some ram horn exhaust manifolds from a board member. Thats what I plan on running, and then cut some holes in my crossmember for my exhaust to run through.

My truck still has the original 292 6-cylinder in it.
The biggest ground clearance issue is the lower a-arms.
They are 2.5" from the ground.
